Offline | not too quick off the mark Hi, can anyone suggest what can be done to make my mc s quicker off the mark, i have only fitted a 15% reduction pulley and had a remap, it goes well once in 3rd gear but it seems like your never gonna get out o first n second as the gears r very long, my mates ibiza cupra r is in third gear by the time am just gonna change into 2nd. does this seem right?????? |

| MINI2 Regular | By the sounds of what you describe you have the earlier getrag gearbox, with the longer gear ratios, 40 in 1st, 70 in 2nd? The 06+ gearboxes have shorter ratios and are therfore quicker off the mark. If you where really annoyed about this, you could source a newer gearbox and have it put in. Another thing you could try, would be lightened flywheel, and better clutch setup. Regards Drew Superchargedddddddddd! |

Offline | thats very true bud, my mate couldn't believe i could do 40 in first gear, but all in all am not too fussed about it to go changing the boxes as once it's in 3RD gear it flys, so is it common tho that they arent 2 quick off the mark???? |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | You gotta think that the Cupra R is a quicker car as standard and a Turbo in one of them is really tuneable to get more power easier than an MCS. If you have an earlier gearbox how can you get 40 in 1st, what year is your car mate?? Im running around 230BHP and im sure ill be quicker than a Cupra R off the mark in good weather. In this weather i would'nt have a chance as id either spin or the traction control will kick in. You just gotta get to about 2000 revs ticking over, get the clutch in bite, and on take off slip the clutch for a strong take off although doing this often will bugger your clutch. Soon as i have taken off, mine flys in the dry. Scott |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | Nope you dont get anywere when its spinning, What wheel and tyres are you running...... If you really want to put the power down then theres limits to other parts regardless of power, if you have got cheap tyres on then that wont help one little bit. Im running Goodyear Eagle GSD3's and these are superb. |

Offline | If they are s-spokes with runflats then the weight of that package isnt going to help get you moving either. On the facelift models they shorten the gear ratios, increased the low rev timings and put a lighter crank pulley on to make it more lively ![]() |
