![]() Mini's in Blackpool Rock | Cooper Chips But which one Anyone have any thoughts on this..I'm thinking of chipping my 03 Cooper, heard stories good and bad, the question is.... What are the differences between each one, I understand Torque and BHP, its the cost and fitting of the chip that I need to know about.. I know they say you get what you pay for, but there must be cheaper versions than........ The story so far is Superchips "Bluefin" at £299 and I fit myself. Others???? Thanx Steve mac |

| MINI2 Regular | Most of the "chips" for the mini that you mention, are not actually chips, ie piggy backs. Most are remaps of the orginal ECU. A lot of people dont like the bluefin, but i feel it can only lean out on the cooper S. For your ONE/COOPER, the bluefin is probably the best, You get a warranty from superchips. Not really worth it in my opinion for the cooper though, as you get only an 8 bhp increase. At £300 thats expensive. On the one however, it transforms the car. For the biggest gains on your cooper, sort out the breathing. And if you want a lot more power think about doing head work, cams etc. Other remaps that people reccomend are MTH, AMD etc. Superchargedddddddddd! |

Offline | As minioneandrew states above the blufin only gives 8bhp for the Cooper and there is always the possibility that if you already have exhaust and induction kit that the blufin may not give you anything. Others with more engine knowledge will put me right I'm sure. Also on the subject of Blufin warranty Superchips claim never to have used it but this may be down to the clause that states that the warranty is deemed void if the car has been modified. Not many people I know chip the car whilst leaving everything else stock. I looked at MTH through essentialmini and this looked quite good, but there power claims are a bit over the top i believe. Don't know much about the AMD one click, believe MINIcabrio had one. What mods do you currently have Steve? Is the chip to compliment these, or are you hoping the remap will get you where you want to be on it's own? ![]() |

![]() Mini's in Blackpool Rock | Thanx guys Yes I do believe that the One's performance would be far greater than my Cooper can achieve, and as for my slow Cooper theres nothing else in the engine other than what it was built with. Yes I'm stuck, its a lot of dosh for an extra 8bhp, I have to set my sights on a MCS, but for now I'll have to wait. Once again thanks for saving me from a wasted expense. Steve |
