Which Petrol...

I always use v-Power for my Cooper S. However, I have to go miles to fill up as there are no Shell garages near me. Also, it costs a small fortune at some garages.

Is Tesco 99 Octane just as good or should I just stick to the v-Power?

Tesco 99 is just as good as Shell V Power. Some say that Tesco 99 is actually better, though i can't tell any difference personaly.

If your car is a standard MCS then you will be fine with Tesco 99.....infact some would say that even that is not worth while. Remember that high octane fuel is actually less combustable than the lower octane (Cheaper) fuels. These only become necessary when combustion temps are raised and or the likelyhood of detonation is increased. It's true they do have more additives which assist the cleaning process, however I have never heared of a "standard" MCS suffering as a consequence of poor fuels.

Hope that helps.

I always use tesco 99 and i occasionally use V Power but when tesco's was at 106.9 and then V power was at 115.9 i dont think the very very small difference there is for it to be worth it!

If your running bigger ic and with ambient temps as low as they are at the moment you will be fine. Save your money for the better fuel during the summer.
