Offline | You'd be suprised.... I looked at one in great detail! To beat an M5 in one you'd near somewhere near 400+bhp! I'll lay it on the line.... an S3 is a Scooby! It looses its power in its drivetrain and weighs too much. 300kg extra if I remember correct so you will have worse handing and be slower. Only thing you will gain is a faster 0-60 due to the traction off the line...... |

| Banned | My goal has nothing to do with beating my dads m5. I just really like the audi as its a good all rounder. 330 bhp is enough for me as i dont track or drag my cars. Ive had this mini for 2 1/2 years and had a cooper previously for 6 months. Also the s3 will have around 330 lbs ft of torque which should help shift its weight around. Im not definite on the s3 yet as there are lots of cars in that price range such as the new tt-s which has the same engine as the s3 but with a bit more power and a rear biased quattro 4x4 system like the rs4. Also like the bmw 335i coupe, nissan 350z, vw r32, scooby, evo new focus rs etc Im going to test drive a few of these cars and whichever suits best will be the one. I dont think i'll get a car with more character or grin factor than my mini gives. It would be perfect to tune the mini more and have it as a weekend car and get something quickish for during the week and for long trips, but money doesnt grow on trees, well not in darwen anyway. May move near to Lee (2much) as there must be plenty of money trees in his backyard lol ![]() |

| Banned | Ive just spoke to the audi dealer which is accross from the mini dealership LOL. He put me off the s3 as there is a facelift out soonish for the a3 and the s3 will be facelifted later on. He thinks the tt s will be a better car as its a touch better performace wise than the s3 and way better looking. He emailed me some pics and i must agree its a very good looking car. Think im going to drop him a deposit next week as hes only allocated 6 for this year. Official release isnt until late june. Audi TTS | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express |

| MINI2 Master | The RS TT is looking the best of the lineup, due to be first duel RS production model and will be out next year, as usually Audi only have one RS out at the same time as another. Using a turbo charged version of the 3.6 V6 from the new Passatt R36. Being limited to 350bhp so as not to catch up with the R8 The TT is the better car, never really liekd the A3 as too bland overall. The only one i really like is the one a guy off Seatcupra.net has a twin turbo 2.0 tdi A3 . Although you may also want to look at 135 beemer, easily being remapped to well over 400bhp, |

| Banned | The styling may not be your thing (it looks better in the flesh) but please go drive the 135i M-Sport first as the extra money you'll save on the TTS can be given to Birds who'll give you a diff and 360 bhp!!! That thing is seriously rapid!!! You can't trade in one estate agents car for another :-) |

| Banned | I was thinking of the 135i as its a nice car. I prefer the tt though for the looks and when/if i get one there will be not many others on the road. I would rather have the 335i coupe than the 135 as it only weighs 50 kg extra which is alot less than i thought and looks way better I'll still have a go in the 135 just to see how it drives. Also booked in to have a blast with the new sti in feb. Ive test drove loads of cars that i know im not going to buy just a bit of fun i suppose ![]() I'll keep everyone updated anyway. |

| Banned | It's great to have that much choice for similar money... or you could go really crazy and get a Lotus Exige S but then you wouldn't have the comfy/sporty mix but your Dad wouldn't see which way you went on some twisty blacktop :-) Oh and one last suggestion, second hand Z4M Coupe... Enjoy the test drives all the same mate... I think I might go for some myself :-) |

| The Power Cube | well, i was able to match an M5 up to 60mph at the end of last week, i did not take my car up to full revs as it had only just been started, but he did not loose me from 10mph to 60 mph. and i was able to out brake and handle far better. So it's the old age game of "quick in a straight line" or "quick in reality" On track then M5 was way behind me !!! and as for the M3's ha ha ha ha. Incidentally, when my car was warm and active, i kept paces with a Lambo Merch (same v10 engine) and for that one i have a witness ![]() this is before the Stg 4 head AntFR ![]() Cheers, K. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

| Banned | Then I think I need the RMW head and gubbins because on the track on a long straight I could pull a lead on a Boxster but got rinsed by GT3, GT3 RS, M5 (500bhp version), Gallardo, R8, Exige S, Atom 260, Renault Clio Cup Racer, New M3, RS4... Does the extra 40 bhp really give that much straight line grunt? I know what it felt like going from 181 bhp to 230 bhp, but does it literally feel like the same jump from 230 bhp to 270 bhp? |

Offline | Only one way to find out BigShow![]() Karl has it ever ocured to you that ypu're just a better driver and maybe have more confidence than those you trounced ![]() Surely on paper your power to weight ratio is far less than a GT3 and M5 ![]() Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND BUT HOW WELL YOU SPEND IT |

| Banned | This is what i dont understand with karls car. On track i understand his car will be quicker than the m5 as its a big saloon weighing in at around 1700kg+ that isnt designed to go around a track fast. Also to 60 the mini will have the upper hand with enough power, as its very light and can shift its weight quick. The m5 on the other hand is a heavy rear wheel drive and to get 500+bhp rear drive car to get a good start isnt easy. Another thing with the m5 is that it runs at 400bhp but with the switch of the M button it has 507bhp. Maybe the guy you raced to 60 was running 400 as he thought 400 would be more than enough to shake off a mini. Doubt he knew yours was 270bhp+ There are other factors that m5 appeals. The main one is the sound of that v10 at 8000 rpm WOW!!! and the all round capability of it being able to drive to the nurburhrgring (spelt wrong) do a few flying laps and then drive back home with no problems. The car is also very comfortable with 5 people in and feels just as quick. I cant say that about my mini ![]() Found a small vid of an m5 eating a 350 bhp sti which gets a much better start This is the exhaust i wouldnt mind getting my dad for his 50th ![]() |
