| having fun or hungover... | Car runnig a bit rough - New Plugs work wonders! Wow what a difference for £20! Thought it running a bit rough when cold etc! Read a bit on here and then took a glance at the spark plugs - Jees they were burnt to a crisp! Amazing how much sharper the car now feels! ![]() Or is the new found sharpness all just in my head! ![]() |

Offline | Too true Russ... 50k miles is too long for a set of plugs - I changed mine at 32k and they were knackered then!! Glad you MINIs running smoooooooooooooooooooooth again ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Hey bud, think thats the next step for me... (2002 cooper 41k) same plugs and getting a tugging back feeling, which is more noticable when cold, through 2-3rpm... Did you have this sort of feeling and what plugs did you buy NGK? Thanks ![]() "i'm f.i.n.e" .... |

Offline | In view of this thread, I had a butchers at my MCS plugs, now at 32K. They look perfect, light brown in colour & no sooting at all. Could it be that your motor is running too rich, or has too many short journeys to explain the "knackered plug" appearance? Richard |

| having fun or hungover... | Bought a plug socket for about £4 (can't remember what size? I just got them to open the plug packet and went and tried them all) and I just replaced with Bosch plugs also from Halfrauds (just decided to do it one night and there the only place open) which are similar if not the same to the 4 prong NGK ones that are in as std bmw fit! And yes that cold stumbling feeling seems to have gone! Also just got a record for a tank of fuel - 330miles , maybe just cos i wasn't driving at XX MPH down the motorway last night! An extra 12k can make a lot of difference i'd say! On an old fashioned service you'd replace plugs every 10 - 12k and i don't think plug technology has really changed?????? |

Offline | Well, Iridium plugs are supposed to last much longer, but yeah, I'd want normal plugs changed about then. Last edited by Fizzoid : Feb 1st, 2008 at 11:37 PM. Reason: Spelling |
