DIY wheres all my tuner people?

i have a 2003 cooper s with a 15% pulley and cold air intake. i am very interested in the lightened crank pulley but i have heard that they can damage your engine. the reason is that you are taking off a factory engine balancing component. this scares me. i beat the cooper up but i dont want it to grenade. i was wondering if anyone knows of this being true? also does anyone here have this mod? if so was it worth it? any issues and what do you think? would you recommend it?

You can save about about a pound and a half (5.5lb vs 7.2lb) by switching to a late model (post 2005-01) OEM crank pulley.

I read a few threads from the earliy days of MCS modding on NAM and they said you could damage the engine by taking off the dampening, but then nothing was ever proven as it seems it was just a theory rather than a fact with conclusive proof.

I agree with Bhozar.... I have also read those early threads but there was never any conclusive information posted either way. I know of several guys that have put the Alta one on and love it.
