Offline | Just thought I'd Say Hi As the title says, I have just done a deal to exchange my Orange Focus ST2 for a Mini Cooper S (Works Replica) it has all the Works bodykit but not the engine which was a little dissapointing but it had so many extras on it and as they were throwing in an additional 2 years warranty and 2 years free servicing i was quite happy to go ahead with the deal. So you know what my question is going to be to take it from its original 170bhp to the 210 ish bhp what do you think i should do, I have had a little lookie around on the web whilst bored at work and have found that Lohen do a kit for around 500 quid (plus 180 fitting) or GT Tuning do a a 210 kit for 695 + Vat. Which do people think is the better choice as i would hate it to look good but without the go and especially going from my ST which had 244 bhp but only done 20mpg hence the change. Thanks in advance Lazyman |

Offline | Hiya Lazyman, and welcome to mini2! ![]() There are plenty of threads on both Lohen and GTT, and there are fans of both on here. Bets thing you can do is to have a look around and do a bit of a search, as there's plenty of info on both companies. Good choice of car by the way ![]() |

Offline | Hi mate & welcome, I see the modding bug has started already ![]() Have a look through the vendors section, they are all good companies with loyal customers. Maybe it'll come down to which one of them is closest to you. Don't forget to post some pics of the car up |

Offline | Welcome to MINI2, post some pictures of the car up! ![]() As others have said, there are lots of options. You mentioned GTT and Lohen. It is worth noting that 1320 autos also may be able to help you. Loads of choice around when it comes to MINI tuning. ![]() |

Offline | Hi and welcome to mini2 I would start with 15% pulley. The pulley alone will get you somewhere near the 200bhp mark. Then get some difference spark plugs to cope with the higher temp generated with the higher boost pressure Then get a bigger intercooler and so on. I liked to keep my car looking like a JCW conversion but without paying the £3500 price tag so collected the parts required and fitted them myself. I went to the dyno on Saturday and dynoed at 225BHP Mods are: 15%pulley+ corrected belt JCW catback exhaust JCW 380cc injectors Higher heat range of plugs Bigger intercooler JCW remap JCW air intake Think thats it And I would say due to power to weight that it would be quicker than your old ST It won't feel as quick due to the power delivery, but look at the speedo and you will see ![]() Regards James |

Offline | Sounds like quite an easy task to add another 30bhp which i think will be a noticeable differance, does anyone know of someone in Essex that could do this and what costs are involved ? Thanks |

Offline | I am not aware of where all the tuners are but without knowing where abouts in Essex you are 1320autos are not too far away. I'd guess at about 80miles away £125 for pulley and belt+ fitting price PM Paul from 1320autos for an accurate quote, also aa autoroute the distance to see if its too far Hope this helps Regards James |

Offline | I have done the following... ALTA 15% Pulley Reduction & Belt £289 Fitted NGK Range 7 Iridium Spark Plugs £25 Fitted ... and made 201 BHP & 180ft/lbs on the Dyno. The works 210 kit is £3500 and they make about 203 BHP at best ![]() I have since fitted a Works GP intercooler which cost me under £200 to keep the temps down. Getting to 200 BHP is easy, anything above becomes harder. Also note you won't be getting any better MPG. |

Offline | ST2 in orange Preety much what everyone else has said.15% reduction Pulley for power, personally went with the 17% reduction pulley for more mid range. £100 plus £100 fitting (think 1320 quoted about that). Cooler plugs. I went with some Iridium NGK ones (same temp and make as the works 210 just Iridium version). £40 max Larger injectors to protect the engine, I went with 380cc JCW jobbies again. These aren't cheap, I was lucky to get a hardly used set for £150 GRS Intercooler (Best out there IMO) again to protect the engine BUT this will give you a performance improvement to (more so with a 17% I would think). £400. That should give you 210bhp comfortably I would think. If you like the noise of the supercharger whine then Alta CAI. £200 but more for noise than actual power. Otherwise a foam panel filter for about £50. With that lot ST should be a thing of the past ![]() ![]() |
