Could be a bad spark plug. Or broken HT lead. Or even a hot spark plug, when the fuel hits it, it auto ignites. Does your car have a smaller pulley - if so your intake temperatures could be to high.
Hope you get it sorted

I'm amazed you even know that is is misfiring..... mine with a high flow manifold on sounded like it was all the time. And every so often it would get a big ignition of fuel in the manifold and bang!

Possibly just rich after a good thrashing?

With my misfire I found that plug1 isnt covered by the intercooler and somehow was getting water in and causing corrosion. After testing its resistance it was way out compared to the others. I replaced all my plugs and leads for good measure and its been fine since. Good luck if your trying to get BMW to replace them under warranty tho, if your not getting a CEL and Misfire code they dont want to know!

Hey peeps yes i do have a reduced size pully and i think there is alot of heat getting under the binnet may have to go for a new intercooler to help matters... good excuse any ways.

It may have a few things to do with the spark plugs as they are relatively new after the service. Was very easy to notice the miss fire.
I did notice that a rat must have been in my engine bay one night or a squirel as i have alot of tree around the house as the ht leads have been nibbled but they are still ok as i have had a good look at them might replace the leads and spark plugs for good measure but itss only after alot of heat and thrashing that it may do it.

Cheers

The heat will have nothing to do with it! My misfire was at specific RPM and on WOT hot or cold.
Remember a lead can look ok but be damaged inside, so if its nibbled I would say replace it.
My plugs were almost new (less then 1000 miles) when one failed so dont rule them out either.

Good luck hunting it down!
