Offline | JCW Kit question (Soon to be owner) Hi all, Mark here, I'm a new user and this is going to be my first* Mini that I pick up on Thursday night. Anyhoo, its a 55 plate MCS that has a few options such as chilli and interior etc but one option it does not have is the JCW upgrade kit as this car will be my fun weekend car for early morning *cough* sprints and the like. The question I have is that is this a worthwhile upgrade or are there other options I should be looking at such as GTT - in fact, is it even possible to add the JCW kit once has left the factory? ![]() I have to admit, I'm sorely tempted by the GTT 220-260 kit as the cost seems extremely reasonable though I want to get used to the car first. I'm coming from a heavily modified EVO IX background but we are talking 'two wheel drive stylee' after all... Any help tips, pointers and advice will be most gratefully appreciated! Cheers, Mark * I say first as this may the first of many. ![]() |

Offline | Hi Mark and welcome to mini2 Well your mini is the same year as mine and therefore nearly out of manufacturers warranty therefore I would not buy the JCW kit for £3500 (yes can be fitted at dealers). I would either buy parts from 1320autos, GT Tuning, lohen etc. Just depends on your budget and what power you want I mainly have JCW parts but shopped around for them and got most of my bits brand new but for good prices, and I wanted it looking as stock/JCW for when I was taking it into the dealers so it wouldn't void my warranty. Hope this helps Regards James |

Offline | Hi James, thanks for the response and welcome, warranty was a potential aspect when considering to go JCW or not but it does seem quite expensive compared to competitor's products. I guess I have to consider the risk of out of warranty work costing in excess of 2000 (the approx difference between jcw kit and a gtt 220) in case things do go wrong. One more question if thats ok and a silly one at that (i am new though ) - stuff like the stripes etc on the bonnet; I guess this is easy enough to get the dealer to apply or would you recommend a third party instead?Regards, Mark |

Offline | Don't have any stickers so wouldn't know but that site hartge 210 posted looks good. If you go for a GTT 220 I am quite sure you get 12 months warranty from GTT( PM Roland to find out for certain) Regards James |
