Help with pulley install?

Hi
Started the procedure today to remove my stock supercharger pulley. Managed to get to the point of lifting the engine (which made some very strange noises on the way up) Eventually the engine would go up no further, and the car was being lifted off the axle stands.
After lowering the engine back in, and securing the motor mount bolts, im kinda baffled why it didnt work.
I was using the instrucions from NAM, and they said not to remove the cast iron engine mounts, just to remove the nut from the left, and a big long horizontal bolt from the right. The alta instructions however, say to remove both cast iron engine mounts?
Ive attched a foto of each. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t forget the lower engine vibration mount at the back of the oil pan. This job requires two jacks, one under the gear box side to lower, and the other under the outside corner of the oil pan to raise that end. If you only have one jack, remove the lower engine vibration mount’s bolt; disconnect the transmission mount bolt while supported with the jack, lower about four inches and support with a stand, then move the jack to the oil pan end to raise. Be sure to follow the directions for disconnecting the coolant hose from the intake manifold and other bits.

I didn't say anything about removing the gear box mount.

Actually it's not necessary to remove lower engine mount. I have never remove it and always do my job easy.
