More mods for a JCW??

Hi all,

I just recently purchased an '06 JCW. Great fun car. Zippy w/ style. Aside from this, I have an E60 M5 so my accolades are with reason.

Anyway, I'm tempted to upgrade my JCW with the following:

1. Unrestricted air filter kit from BMP
2. 19% pulley
3. H&R lowering springs (done)

They say I could add about 30BHP. My worries are about possible detonation on full boost. Gas is only 90RON here!

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Peter

19% pulley is risky from what i hear, although i have no experience with it. Maybe if you got something like a GRS chargecooler to keep things cool, and bigger injectors.

Hi Andrew,

That's what I thought. I'll probably just throw in an upgraded air filter.

Thanks bro

i put a "better" air filter on mine and made no gains on the dyno. Waste of money. I have removed the flap at the back of the airbox which improves airflow. Some extractors, 17% pulley or 3% crank pulley and a custom remap will sort you out. You could also go for leads and ignition upgrade but again the gains are minimal. Best bang for buck 17% pulley.

Bro,

Miss the Guvnor and Babes run of havoc back in the good old days in Perth. lol... I only started driving my MINI again back here in the last few months of 2008. The guvnor has had some upgrades and is running smooth as ever as of Feb08 with 56k on the mileage... Sadly there are not many " enthusiasts" back in Brunei cos people aren't sure of what to do despite my ideas that i share with them. :P

I recently fitted the following:
Alta 3% oversize crank - Feb08
Alta Version II 17% reduction - Feb08
K&N RU31-30 air-filter filament replacement & flap removal - Jan08
Milltek Complete system (manifold + back-end) - April 08
MSD High voltage ignition coil and Nology wires - Mar08
Silicone Air intake snorkle and replaced all the rubber hosing with Alta Silicone tubes - April08
SPC Rear Camber Kit and Bilstein coil overs - Jan08

I have to say the grin factor is back and i am loving my MINI again. Truth be told i'm never ever selling my MINI even though its an R53. haha... Any thoughts on the Detroit Bypass Valve? Am rather keen on the DBV and Alta Version II Intercooler,
