I'm not bashing the magazine in its entirety, I was just disappointed by this particular article. Its the only new Mini mag we have and I like most of the features within but when it comes to road testing I think there needs to be a methodical and repeatable approach to each test conducted with regards performance measurements etc and in this case when testing one of the fastest Mini's in Europe a certain degree of bias toward the performance/handling aspects of the car in the write up as lets face it thats what most of us will want to know about with this particular car. I'm not expecting MM to hire Millbrook for the day but you know what I mean.

Then again if I think I can do better, maybe I should put my money where my mouth is... anyone want their car reviewed

guess i wont read this until sunday but i know that mm do have an odd approach, esp on their human intrest stories.....
but if you want to see an exeampl ooff bad proof reading then the Haynes performance manual has it by a mile

I can find it anywhere round by me. Birmingham city centre WHSmith near superdrug etc always has copies. The 2 local news agents both sell it too, Mills by Snowhill is one of them. Ojh and the post office on corporation street behind where the law courts are too.

Doesn't help you but anyone in Brum who is struggling might be interested

As it says inside the front cover, if you dont anything about the mag then tell them.

They are only printing what they think we want.

Yeah I want bad spelling so I dont feel alone!!!!

I managed to get a hold of a copy yesterday, only one small news agents in my town had a couple of copies

I read the article on Lee's car and for sure there is 'a little something missing', It's only because we have some kind of insight about the car on here that we can understand the hard work that was put into this conversion.

Its always difficult to keep everyone happy when producing a magazine like this, not everyone wants to read about cars having the most power, some would rather read about shows or organised runs around the country. My only concern is this magazine is getting thinner and is very difficult to find.....

Graham

right, i read the issue again yesterday properly.

Going back to the points made about the poor writing or editing. I have picked out about 4 glaring errors in the magazine, and there not simple spellings.

The worst one is on the 20k cooper R56. Says about the guy smashing his punto up and then next buying a Corolla. He even managed to scavenge the wheels off the wrecked punto for his new corrola. Then he decided to sell his Punto to buy a mini, Hang on did'nt he own a corolla now as he had writtent he punto off earlier.

I think a letter is on its way to Modern mini mag about the editing. oh and that was the editor who wrote that article.

I picked up a copy whilst up at Mikeys on Friday - Southport town centre WH Smiths...

As it only took 30 mins to read the whole mag, i left it up with Mikey to read, but I can recall some errors myself. Lee suddenly became 'Ryan' in a caption under a photograph for one.

Then there was the article about a brother and sister, all she seemed to have done is stuck a Cooper badge on her ONE without changing anything mechanically! Not the best grounds for an article I'm sure you'll agree. Shall I stick a CLK63 AMG badge on the back of my Merc and ask them to feature it in a magazine?

In the MINI Show review, Mikeythemini is said to have 'owned' newministuff - wrong tense used there for starters

The other thing that did annoy me, was the fact that they seem to constantly use SOHC every time they refer to the engine - I guess they're just making the point but it got annoying.

Back on topic though, agree the article written on Lees car wasn't the best. Not to take anything away from the car at all, as its an immense bit of kit, just wish the writer could have conveyed that through his text a bit more.

Interesting how the show report mentions an MCS having a 'GRS Manifold'; Graham have you been holding out on us?

GTT, GRS, Janspeed, JCW, OMP + various other bits - 232.6bhp, 191.2lbft on 1320's rolling road

Guys, i'd hate to jump on the band waggon but i'm in total agreement with you on MM magazine
Every month i buy it, then 30 mins later i wonder why!
It's like opting for a whopper meal then getting that grease feeling after you've eaten it!

I waited for Nico's article on his GP to come out and it was littered with typo's
It feels like they're more 9-5 people that don't really have the enthusiasm for the job they do.
Sometimes just wish there was an alternative magazine!

I've got to admit the article lacked something but based on other articles over the past few months I feel the magazine won't be around much longer

i think my favorite from this issue is Veneered Pulleys. Oooh i wonder if they are a walnut veneer or whether they are a light wood burr veneer.

Do you think they meant Verniered Pulleys or as most refer to them as vernier.

LOL There was another glaring mistake recently in the 'your cars' section. The pic was of MCS with the bonnet up... text stating that the owner had been modding his car and even threw a GRS IC at it... He obviously missed completely as the car had a standard IC...

I'm looking forward to a real car enthusiast mag getting their hands on it Roland.... someone like Evo for instance

It's a cracking car you've built him, and it deserves a write-up to match

I wasn't a MINI owner when GOMINI was around, so forgive the question, but what happened to bring about its demise?

I honestly do hope ModernMINI manage to improve things, and ultimately stay around, because otherwise were going to be left with no magazine at all.

James.

Have to say im very happy with this months modernmini magazine

The reason???

Alongside a picture of the 6 GPs at Bingley hall is a little write up about the group GP show.
On 11th May at Himley This also has my e mail and have already had 2 e mails from GP owners asking can they join

Know this is very off topic
