Offline | Mine and Alski's specs are very similar... 17% Alta V2 Pulley Alta CAI (with stock pipe) GRS intercooler JCW 380cc Injectors NGK iridium Spark Plugs Optimised Bypass Valve Play MINI Cat Back. ...but I'd sure as hell like some more torque: Peak power = 238.3 bhp @ 7127rpm Peak torque = 178.1 lbft @ 6646rpm 2154rpm: 134lbft 2500rpm: 142lbft 3000rpm: 150lbft 3500rpm: 158lbft 4000rpm: 165lbft 4500rpm: 168lbft 5000rpm: 169lbft 5500rpm: 173lbft 6000rpm: 175bft 6500rpm: 178lbft 7000rpm: 177lbft Said this before but my cars peak torque makes it almost a VTEC ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | It amazes me how much difference there is between our cars with similar mods; I can't believe the manifold makes so much difference - I appreciate all cars are different ![]() 2076 rpm = 150 3500 rpm = 180 4000 rpm = 188 4500 rpm = 190 5000 rpm = 188 5500 rpm = 185 6000 rpm = 185 6500 rpm = 175 7000 rpm = 170 Peak: 191.2 @ 4638 rpm GTT, GRS, Janspeed, JCW, OMP + various other bits - 232.6bhp, 191.2lbft on 1320's rolling road |

Offline | actually the exhaust manifolds can be made to alter the peak wherever you want them ![]() ours is made for track conditions, you have roughly the same torque curve as a well designed header down low but mid to up top our header is much better. Overlay some of our graphs on other cars and you will see the difference. Remember all our numbers are WHP numbers so if you want to compare yours with ours add 12-15% to our numbers to get your bhp ![]() Manufacturer and Custom Mini Tuning |

Offline | I think I read your post right, by header I assume you mean manifold as opposed to a cylinder head. I think Cylinder head is way out of my price range for engine mods. If your talking manifold have to admit I love the look of your full system posted in your forum, as really like the idea of the cat being moved further down. Concerned about the noise though, don't want my ears to bleed LOL. Not getting any one soon though and I'm sure when 1320 get one will be able to compare it against graham's full miltek system which I woudl of been happy with ![]() Ideally I want torque in the 200lbft figures, not to fussed about the power so long as its no lower than 230 (what i'd aimed to get it to before realising I aleady had it LOL )![]() |

Offline | Thanks to everyone who has participated so far, very interesting to see the comparison between Damo & Rigsey too with difference in torque. ![]() RMW - just out of interest are there are any preferred tuners in the UK who actively import and use your parts that form their performance packages? Cheers, Mark ps Keep sending the stats - its very interesting seeing whats on offer out there! ![]() |

| Mini 2 Slap Head | Hi guys Please can I add the following that may clarify the power/torque debate: Power [kW] = (2 * pi * (engine speed [rpm]/60) * Torque [Nm])/1000 As you can see, engine power increases in proportion with engine speed and torque. So, it is very desirable to tune the fattest torque curve you can across the whole engine speed range in order to satisfy mid-range driveability and peak power requirements. It can be said that Power is, in effect, the rate of change of work done [i.e. torque] from the above equation. A tuners aim is to maximise the engine torque at peak engine speed by maximising the airflow through the engine and achieving the largest (safe) cylinder pressure the combustion system can withstand. So, in answer to your question "is torque more important than bhp?", torque is power therefore is equally important and relevant. Cheers Pete [a.k.a GEEK boy] ![]() |

Offline | In the USA we call an exhaust manifold a header and the cylinder head a "head" We have spent considerable time and money making an exhaust which works unfortunately it isn't quiet like stock ![]() Manufacturer and Custom Mini Tuning |

Offline | Well I currently have a Play MINI that is a lot louder than stock, and I've got used to it at speed on the motorway, but if I was to get anything to loud on the motorway my Mrs would kill me ![]() The full miltek system is louder than mine under power but sounds quieter than mine when cruising. But then Graham's car is geared higher as mine is a facelift his isn't. ![]() |
