DIY Nottingham Mini Specialist

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any Mini specialists around the Nottingham area (or close by)?

I have a problem with a bit of lag when I put my foot down - people have mentioned that the belt might need replacing, but BMW have quoted £80 and basically laughed...said they'd never heard of needing a replacement before...!

I don't really want to shell out £80 then find that it wasn't the belt, and something else instead.

Any ideas / suggestions?

Cheers!

...I'm now wondering whether it's the bypass valve that has a problem. After looking around on here, there's quite a few references to problematic valves.

Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of the valve, and what I should be looking for to ensure it's working correctly?

I'm currently waiting for a Haynes manual to be delivered, but want to try and nail this problem ASAP.

Cheers all!

What mileage has it done, have you got an aftermarket superharger pulley fitted?

Completely stock. Just under 40k miles. 2003 plate (03). Not sure if it's ever had replacement belt, but fully BMW serviced (TLC with 1 left).

It could be your belt then, we've seen them come in here in split in two at that sort of mileage, there suppose to change it on your next service 45k, which is far to long an interval IMO.

Is there any way of telling that it needs changing or not? The belt looks ok, but can't tell if it's stretched / slipping etc.

How much do you charge for a belt change?

Hi,
Being based in Nottingham also I know that there are no MINI specialist in Nottingham. Your alternative choices in addition to 1320 autos are :

Lohen in Staffordshire
P-Torque in Walsall
BBR in Oxford
MED in Leicester ( not sure what services they offer )

I have used BBR and Lohen and would recommend both organisations. In fact Lohen carried out my Inspection II service.

Hope that helps.

Cheers
