As the accelerator is a resitor, this device must be one too, so a bit expensive for a resistor !!!

Would be nice to have one oen to have a look !

Yeah your right. Price is a little high for what it is.

I think ill not be investing in 1 until they a little cheaper.

I told my girlfriend the price and she immediately put her foot down and said I wasn't having one yet. Darn...

Well, I'll get one and report back what the difference is like. I had an M3 a few cars ago, which had a sport button, the differnce was excellent apart from hillstarts and traffic

Some history, this device has been available (Taiwan vendor, EU manufacture) for a couple years at least; a local European car club member had one on his Mercedes two years ago. At that time there was a mild and aggressive version, the price was about a third less than today. The MINI model has been available from a Hong Kong based vendor (e-bay) for months, at a slightly lower price. I was waiting for a U.S. vendor to carry them, and we pay more because of the exchange rates, it still is worth the price. Until a knock-off is produced I doubt the price will come down.

Value for money is a subjective thing, we live in a world where women want a £10000 kitchen and produce £2.99 food
It can cost £100 for a main dealer to confirm "yep its broken"
£200 for a pair of trainers?
You can buy a movie DVD or get a freebie download ;subtitled ,with some blokes head in the corner of the screen ,
ARC- remind her of the cost of her last haircut!!!!!! that puts perspective on things

If I had the money I'd be inclined to spend it, but I'm afraid she's put a stop to any further MINI modding expenditure for the near future. In the last couple of months, I've spent:
  • Koni FSD: £350 + £130 fitting
  • Strut Braces: £410
  • Spiroslot Brakes: £291 + £120 fitting
  • JCM510 Cone Filter: £156
Which brings the total for my MINI modding to £1457 thusfar. I hadn't realised it was getting into 4 figures...

Also, just recently needed 4 new tyres, needs a service, MOT, annual insurance and road tax need renewing... then her car needed 4 new tyres, needs a service, MOT, road tax, annual insurance... we're also moving house next week (paying for removals van) and currently have two overlapping rents for this month...

Sorry Adam - I'd love to buy it (and would have done had the girlfriend not used her veto), but I'm just plain out of funds right now. I'll look to summer when the accounts have recovered a bit...

All the best,
Andrew.

PS
She only gets 2 haircuts a year for ~£30 each... somehow I don't think that'd be a winning argument in this particular instance. Any other ideas/strategies I could try to expedite things a bit?

hand bags and shoes wins it for me mate, but with 4 figure sums means you might have to negotiate a bit , so if i keep the car for 10 yrs its only x...amount per annum a bit like a mortgage

I had run out of things to purchase for my MINI so I reckon I will have to get one. Besides I'm the boss of our house! (when the wife is out anyway...)

Sorry if this has been explained before but when you fit one of these devices what happens when you press the sport button?

Does this do anything to your fuel economy etc? Just wondering the reasoning for BMW to build the delay into the car, when something like this takes it away.

There has been no change in mileage for me. There’s nothing to fear from this device, it’s all fun, and I could imagine if you had a sport button and the SB it would be fun on top of fun.

BMW only put the delay in to be nice to the engine, as having a 3 second delay will let in come in more slowly and less agressive on the engine itself.

Although BMW F1 team will have almost no delay as they are only after power, not driveability, reliability, things like that...

although i see MiniMania have cut the time taken by a 1/3 so still to maintain some sort of sanity when it comes to driving on the road £0.02

My boss has just fitted a Sprint Booster to his BMW 330d and said his throttle response is insane now when he puts it in sport mode! Although on pull away it can be a bit too aggresive.

Finally got mine fitted today, after loads of hassle as my catch was snapped off. Big thanks to Leeroy who sorted it. I have to say I was a little dubious before I had it installed, but I have to say WOW!! what a difference, it's so much more responsive and you can really feel the torque running through, feels more like a turbo response that an S/c. So is it worth the money, well if you have had the norml mods done first then yes

I'd say he has a 1st Generation MINI Cooper S, given the reference to having a supercharger.

Though the 'turbo response' comment probably only applies to the top end of the rev range. Lower down from a standing start, I think someone said superchargers have the upper hand over turbos... At least, the turbo isn't really effectual until you get to high revs on my SmartCar (second car, primarily driven by my girlfriend).

All the best,
Andrew.
