Milltek swelling/expanding?

Hi Guys,

It looks as though I'm going to be doing a group by on the Milltek (organised by Nylo).

Now, I swear I remember reading somewhere that when the Milltek is nice warmed up, the exhaust expands (?) is this just the tips? If so, how/where should it be positioned so that when it's warm, it doesn't poke out and look just plain odd... or does it look odd?

This is the only thing that cornern me... the stock tips poke out just enough.

Is there any pics of before, after, or different places to be installed. Don't want to get this wrong.

Cheers fellow MINI2ers

Jay

I don't what you mean by expand but the tips change colour to blueish. You can polish it off with stuff you would use on the sink or cooker.

By length or diameter of the pipe

On my way to 240

You won't regret buying the Milltek Jay, it looks good & sounds even better

I found a pic that Berthill took a while back showing his expanding exhaust tips.

Also added a pic of mine to show what they look like with aerokit rear bumper. (not sure if you have aerokit or not??)

You're more than welcome to a spin round the block to get a idea what it sounds like from inside (Tesco Leatherhead Mini meet coming up??)

Cheers
John

John - if you have the cat-back I would love to!

I don't have the aerokit. When're you free?

Your car car has always been a favourite of mine Berthill, I always keep an eye out for your posts.

Jay, I've got the manifold as well so it might be a little louder, I'm sure it will give you a good idea of sound though. Can be there at around 7.15 this evening if you can make it? I know a nice stretch of dual carriageway (under the M25) that should do the trick

It is the downpipe (flexijoint) that causes the tailpipe length to increase. There is a modified downpipe fitted in the states to prevent this.
