Offline | Any help on Tuning 02 JcW 210 BHP Hi Everyone,, I'm after some advice please!!! i have a 02 jcw 210 bhp, and am thinking of modifing it a little bit, i havent got loads of money, but wanted to try and do a few things,, don't really want to change the induction as i have just replaced the jcw one with a brand new unit.. I've got the denso irridium sparks & samco induction hose already. Is there any other parts that might be worht changing instead that don't cost loads n loads What are Peoples views on the Alta Alternator Pulley? Alta Lightened Crank Pulley. Both from lohen.... i take they are just a lighter and increase the bhp a little bit (anyone know how much).. Is the reliabilty alrite on them, and it wouldn't be any strain on the standard jcw 210 engine ? Thanks alot!!! |

Offline | Would not bother with them tbh the alternator pulley will do nothing for you and the lightened crank pulley you may as well go through GTT and get a reduction size which will be better for performance though some people have reservations about fitting them. New spark plugs will make little to no difference and the induction hose will do nothing for you but look better. My advise is to keep saving your money for good products, ie £400 will get you a set of 1320 CAMS fitted (or about that *I think) I would advise an ITG filter which can be had for under £50 delivered, thats my cheap mod. you can have the kink and middle box removed removed from your exhaust removed at a low price from custom exhaust shops like torque flow. Keep saving for good products rather than wasting it on worthless rubbish |

Offline | ITG John Cooper Works Filter for R53 - Welcome to Vecchio Engineering - The BMW and New Mini Tuning Specialists It is a change from paper to foam filter, there is a little extra power not that you will really feel it but with other mods will help, it just replaces your paper filter. Ther noise is increased a little only. Very good product for a good price. |

Offline | If I had a 210 JCW then the first thing I would be looking at would be a 3% lightened crank pulley. After that, it would depend on budget, but I guess exhaust manifold next. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Swap the JCW 11% pulley for a 17% pulley and get a good intercooler like GRS /ALTA/ GTT to help lower the intake air temperature .No re map required. worth 15-20 Hp at a guess. Best done together or intercooler first followed by pulley. |

| MINI2 Regular | You can swap the JCW to a 17% pulley or you can go with the 3% crank pulley from GTT. Or you can go a combo of both 15%+2% etc. You can also replace the headers and this would be good for a few more hp. I think a 20hp gain from just the pulley and intercooler may be a bit on the high side. As for the intercooler I would not waste my money as the stock intercooler does a good job despite what everyone says. There was a 255whp 2.0L stroker car that ran on the stock intercooler from BMW and didn't have any over heating problems (say no more). After doing the pulley and header thats when you are going to spend some serious money as the only way then to get more hp is a new head and custom tune! Have fun with your mods! |

| MINI2 Newbie | intercooler You will notice a difference with an intercooler once you reduce the supercharger ratio beyond the JCW 11%, although less so in the winter. It is not about keeping the engine temps down but about cooling the intake air and making the air more dense. A standard intercooler really stuggles in the summer with higher ratios and there is plenty of stats around showing that it helps to retain power in the summer (8bhp drop on a fast run with the standard intercooler). I would avoid the alta one and go for GRS/GTT. The alta is too large and reduces pressure which overrules the cooling affect. In terms of upgrades, I would stick to 15-17% reduced pulley with sticky belt and leave the standard crank pulley in place. Some people have replaced their crank pulley as the engine runs rougher with a lightened crank pulley. If you can feel it in the car, image the stress this is placing on the big end bearings. I have fitted at GTT manifold and it made the car noticably quicker through improved torque and smoother delivery but it is really loud. It is forgiven because of the lovely pops and bangs. |
