Calling people who have fitted a boost gauge

Just fitted my boost gauge today. Just want to see what idle vac pressure others have seen.

Mine is around -16 when on vac.

Also when you put your foot down (so the gauge goes from vac to boost) I have noticed a slight noise on the gauge, is this normal as its quite annoying

OT, but how easy was the install and what gauge did you use?

Lies need defending all the time. The truth defends itself.

The gauge is a autometer pro comp ultra lite.

Install was quite easy, my car is a 2005 so were normally you need to punch a hole in the grommet to get through the firewall, mine had a nipple there already-just need to cut the end off it.

I have not connected the 12V supply yet though, just want to be sure I am keeping it before splice into a cable.

All the post above are leading me towards having a faulty gauge maybe.

I will have to look in to the further tomorrow just to check that the nylon pipe is not touching anything when it boosts.

G'day James

I've fitted an Autometer Ultra Lite boost gauge into my car and the sound your hearing when your car suddenly goes into boost is normal for the mechanical gauge.

The sound is usually only apparent when you jam your foot down on the go pedal - I've grown to enjoy the sound. Besides with a CAI and exhaust the sound all blends together nicely .

Cheers

I have the OEM upper gauge kit MINI Cooper S Gauge Kit: Boost + Volt Meter

Perfect as it matches all the other gauges, about -10 on idle and off the dial on full boost

No noise.

I have the OEM upper gauge kit

when I fitted it I did notice a very faint noise that wasn't there before, what it was for me is I did not push the grommet back where I ran the vac pipe through, I see about -10ish idle and about -20 on engine brake

the prosport t piece has a brass valve fitted inside one of the ends of the t piece .
this is to prevent any noise.
as explained in my prosport instructions.

May end up taking the boost gauge off the I cannot get rid of the noise as it does my head in

Spoke to the supplier of the gauge and they said its a normal noise due to the movement.

Going to make a restrictor for it as I cannot find one the size I need and if noise can still be heard then there will be a boost gauge for sale
