| Lovin' every MINI of it! | Big Block... I'm dropping one of these in the MINI! ![]() 454 Chevy Big Block Crate Engine With 550 Horse Power Ok, so it is a 454, but it is 550 of raw power. FWIW, I helped build one of these once. Nice gas guzzling engine. Global Moderator ![]() |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | LOL, I thought you guys might get a kick from that. The engine build was a summer project with a buddy and his dad back when I was in high school. It was the summer that I learned what an engine was. Such fun that was.... ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | You know, if you're going to stick a 7.4 litre beast of an engine in the MINI - you're going to have some trouble transferring all that power to the road. Unless... | The Power Cube | I'm not, and after summer it will be the 450T, not the 300T ![]() This 280bhp+ from an Eaton powered engine really seems to get your beef doesn't it lol. Should't be too hard seeing as the stg2 setup obtained 273bhp. Stage 4 should be an easy 280+ ![]() Cheers, K. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

| Tunnel Runner | I'm only joshing, I don't mind who gets 280+bhp as I know shortly that someone on here will have 290+ bhp from an Eaton and its fantastic that all of a sudden more of us on here are breaking the 280 bhp barrier... but don't forget 280+ bhp is impossible without race fuel ![]() I would seriously advise you go drive a front wheel drive car with 450 bhp because as much fun as it will be in a stright line (and it will be a whole lot of fun!) it's gonna be nigh on useless putting that power down through the corners. The chap from Evo last Friday mentioned he'd just been driving the Astra VXR Nurburgring Edition (unofficial 257 bhp) and that Vauxhall had spent a great deal of money tweaking and honing it especially for the 'ring with input from the BTCC racing team. He described the car as a bit of a dog becasue it can't put the power down smoothly so ends up just spinning its front wheels. When he drove mine he managed to spin the front wheels out of some corners but said it was more controllable on the throttle due to the progressive way in which the supercharger/engine delivers the power wheras the turbo just comes in one hit. Knowing how much you like track days does this not worry you? |

Offline | It gets most peoples beef when people make claims with guesstimates, maybe we should get you an etch-a-sketch remap or unscaled dyno graph! ![]() Were not down the pub, this sites about information and all this thread is doing is telling us how your pussy footing around with the run in period. Get on with it!!! Yawn! :P |

| The Power Cube | No worries ![]() I will use race fuel on the RR day for sure, to protect the engine. Not sure it would be required for the road though, so although 280 is possible without race fuel, it is advisable to use it if running higher power revs - eg. track use. i'm torn between going 300T and 400T or 450T at this moment. Yes, Turbo route is for me, and i will be able to drive it well, but as you say, will 450bhp be too much for corners? I've got so many handling mods though that getting this power down shoul dbe OK (at least 391bhp) and it is track proven already. I've not even had a go of the factory 300T yet, so i will do that before deciding. ![]() Cheers, K. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

| The Power Cube | Ha. It's my thread, and i'll cry if i want to.....cry if i want to......cry if i want to.... No need to get me an etch-a-sketch, i already know it will be running around 273bhp without the stg 4, so with a stage 4 it has to be 280bhp or there abouts. We are not down the pub, you are quite correct, but my thread was started once the head was fitted. There is a run in period, but that will soon be over. Less haste my friend, i know it's hard waiting for the first hand report of how it performs .![]() Cheers, K. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |
