| Tunnel Runner | Hi Guys Yes the 0-60 time is a bit slow but it's very difficult to hook up and 5.8 secs is the best acheived so far, even with granny starts. On the strip/track a diff would help for sure, on the road, not so sure as 1st is the only gear it loses traction in on the road thanks to the suspension and map. If you look at the dyno graph you'll see that most torque comes in after traction is found (just the way we wanted it - mid range punch) which explains the 30-70 time but that is in 2nd gear and not 3rd. I'll never be able to match Snowie or Pauls 30-70 times in 3rd with their later box. I spoke with Graham about the water to air but on track, which is where the temps get high, he doesn't believe the WTA will benefit me that much over the stock GRS which shows just how good it is. Thanks for the advice 300GP, I have the 440's now but not the diff.. The next mods happening shortly are: RMW Manifold and Exhaust - in back to back tests on the same car it gave 10 lbs ft more after being fitted Quaife ATB - For strip and track (I'm addicted to the Pod now, to see why go here RWYB - Castrol Challenge - Tables 2006 We need more Mini's in the list!) RMW FX Clutch 06 Gearbox - possibly, will decide nearer the time This lot should sort out my off the line issues and improve my 60ft at the strip which with a new gearbox and in the right conditions might get me into the 12's. |

| MINI2 Master | surely you're gonna stop though mate, i myself have been quite adamant that thats it now. Bar small things and repairing things when they break, i'm not spending anymore. (although i still scoure Ebay for the odd bargain...lol) but now i want few months of just petrol going in. i think Karl is the one to look at here ( no offense Karl) but he's in a never ending spiral of throwing money at the car especially come summer. is 400bhp really going to cure him, . I suppose best person to ask is Lee, is he finished now etc. I sometimes look at the others on this forum who have a tastefully modded one Diesel with maybe some nice wheels and shiny bits and thats it, there oever the moon with their cars. I honestly am jealous of those people who can drive a standardish car and be happy with it. I think we may be the mugs in this whole set up as unfortuantely i fear we will never be truely finished. Maybe we deserve a charity fund to help us. |

| Tunnel Runner | Very well put mate and I know exactly what you're saying. After the mods above I am stopping with that car as IMO the power/suspension/chassis set-up is the most that can be efficiently put through the front wheels of a Mini. However, this will be confirmed at Bedford this Friday and not by me, a couple of independant car journo's will be taking it for a few laps to give their opinion but it won't be published, just asked them for what they like and don't like. Money wise you are quite right... do I get anymore enjoyment from my car than someone else who as spent a 10th of what I have... probably not, it's all relative. But my goal was to build a Mini that was faster than my mates GT4 and its now beaten his 1/4 mile time so I'm happy... but moreso I'm happy with how my car delivers its power and drives day to day. Next year... now that's a different matter. Next year I've got something very special planned for a donor Mini Cooper S. It won't be cheap but I don't drink, smoke or have kids so while I can, I'll spend my spare cash on something really challenging that gives me a proper scaryily fast buzz. Can a Mini be built that's quicker than a Merc SLR or a Porsche Carrera GT in all conditions... we'll have to wait and see. ![]() |
