Online | 1320 camshaft review and dyno results As some may now I was lucky enough to win the auction for the 1320 Camshaft that was given as a prize at the Top Gear test track. http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...-camshaft.html I had it fitted yesterday while at the DBrally.net rolling road day near Birmingham. This is an independant rolling road, they just happen to work on classic mini's. The fuel used was a 50/50-ish tank of v-power and tesco 99. The day started with me being first on the rollers to get a baseline power/torque figure. Then the car was left to cool while the two mechanics from ThinkMINI put their cars on the rollers. Once that was out the way they started to strip down my engine in the car park to install the new cam. It didn't take them long, despite the rain, and after a bit of work the car was ready to fire up for the first time with the new cam. No problems there. Fired up first time and the car now had a bit more of a deeper growl at tick over. After leaving the car for a bit to warm up it was back on the rollers. Please note, that the only modification that was done is the camshaft. Nothing else was done to the car. Baseline: WHP 163.8 BHP 197.2 Torque 169 +1320 camshaft WHP 179.2 BHP 217.0 Torque 187 As you can see the improvements were quite large. On the road it is noticeable. The car pulls well from lower down and feels quicker across the rev range compared with before. The sound is also much better. Its hard to describe how much better it sounds now. Before it could sound a little tinny, and now it sounds like a much deeper growl and roar. I went under a motorway overpass shortly after at 6000rpm and couldn't stop grinning for ages. I cant work out how to do clickable thumbnails, so here are the links to the dyno results. ![]() ![]() Last edited by MINIAC : Apr 28th, 2008 at 02:50 PM. Reason: Make links clickable thumbnails |

| Tunnel Runner | Glad to see a 1320autos product independantly tested to prove it does do exactly what it says on the tin. Good on you Bhozar for taking the time (and spending the money) to test it out and share your results with us. BigShow step's on to his soap box 'its not how much you spend, it's how well you spend it'. ![]() MiniTorque.com |

Offline | great work! exactly why I say a head doesnt add as much as people think when the cam can add nearly 20hp alone. Everyone seems to do head and cams at the same time. |

Offline | NIce one Bhozar, you now hold the title as the highest gain for one of our cams, I'm afraid that 99.9% of others who buy and fit the cam will not see gains like this, Sorry. Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 It's not how much you spend but how well you spend it |
