| MINI2 Newbie | K&N induction questions hi fellow mini adventurers ive managed to talk my other mistress ( the one without 4 wheels ) into getting a k&n induction kit fitted onto my 06 cooper cab. Ive looked at both the 57i and the typhoon, so, can someone tell me is the tphoon worth the extra 60 quid over the 57i, who has what induction kit fitted and what do you enjoy / dislike about it ? many thanks |

Offline | Hello mate, pesonally i wouldn't waste your money in getting a typhoon, all perfomance air intakes/filters that have been dynoed generally loose BHP over the stock air box. The best and cheapest way would be to change the panel filter and keep the stock air box. I personally would recommend Vecchio ITG panel filters, they are excellent and just ordered one for mine plus it will save you some money as they are only £45 . Or any other panel filter for that matter.Just tought i would add my opinion to see if it helps ![]() Last edited by TRISTO : Apr 30th, 2008 at 05:51 PM. Reason: missed something out |

Offline | When I had my cooper I tried out all of the following: Pipercross Panel Pipercross Cone K&N 57i K&N Typhoon ITG Panel Out of all of them the Typhoon was by far the loudest one, but I suspet this is because of the metal pipe making it resonate the sound better. I took it off after a while, its a joke people turn round expecting to see a Scooby and get a MINI ![]() So after that I used my Pipercross for a good while, before finally putting the ITG panel filter on which gave a more subtle sound and didn't feel any different drive wise to any of the others. From all that I discovered that persoanlly I prefer foam filters to cotton ones and ITG use a dual layer foam technology that in my head seems to work out best so I stuck with that ![]() Can't go wrong for £45 where as if you buy a typhoon then your other half doesn't enjoy your new ridiculous induction roar then its going to be a lot of beer money wasted ![]() |
