Offline | Which is the best Cooper S exhaust?? Hi all, After seeing the JCW Cooper S cars racing at Snetterton i think i need an exhaust with a bit more burble! I would quite like to get a 2nd hand JCW system as it is probably not too noisy and is best fit/ quality... I see there are new S/S systems on ebay from about £250..but not sure i trust the quality... What is everyones experiences and recommendations... Cheers |

Offline | Its like the metal mesh inside the back box that stops it resonating really badly. Obviously with all the stuff coming through they can deteriorate and break down over time. This happened to me on a Peco zorst I had on an old car of mine. Made it sound like there was hundreds of bits floating about inside it. Enjoyed the baffled joke btw ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the feedback... Someone did have a JCW system for sale on the classifieds but just been informed it has sold. Has anyone got the Janspeed system with the single silencing box?? I presume this fits the Cooper S (mine is an 03)...Different from the norm with the oval tail pipe and at £315 good value. |

Offline | I'm running the OBX Catback which is one of the Ebay Cheapies. Working just fine and its several years old. A couple of notes however. 1) its not a true catback since it reuses the stock center pipe. 2) the hardware is the cheapest possible. I upgraded to SS clamps. 3) The rest of the system is nicely built. 4) It's pretty loud but I'm into it. I went this route because I purchased the header and the exhaust for the same price as most "just" catback systems. i feel I got more for my money because the header gave me a few more ponies (2-3 hp) but nice TQ improvement (like 8lbs) which is very usable for daily driving. Last comment - to me the best bang for the buck is to buy a header and match it up to a 1-ball exhaust. 03 MCS |

Offline | Hi, What sort of driving do you do ? If you change the manifold and add a nosier cat back then be preppared for a lot more noise than standard over 3500 revs..... this could be an issue on motorway journeys ect. Cheers Perm ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | ok come end of the month, i will be changing my set up a little. Currently have Milltek manifold and sports cat with Milltek cat back. I am changing the manifold to a GTT janspeed item with decat, and then Snowies German JCW Challenge exhaust. It may end up being too loud, but we'll see. Either way it will be staying on until the next tunnel run and Le mans.....lol My guess is i will end up long term with the GTT manifold and Milltek catback. But you never know until you try all these things. And with ebay its easy to offload things you don't want anyway. |

Offline | I have the JCW (pre 2003) cat back and Janspeed Manifold & Sports CAT (Same as GTT, but GTT has better welds). The JCW cat back was a perfect fit and proved to not be a restriction on the dyno. a. There is less drone at 3000rpm on the motorway than stock. b. Over 3000rpm and over half throttle (haven't used full yet) it sounds evil, meaty and raspy. c. On over-run and every gear changes it sound like a rally car ( crack, bang, pop etc ). d. On idle it has a little less burble than stock, but more rally esque. Bear in mind I haven't had the chance to use full beans yet. It is much louder than stock /JCW with the manifold added. Take the equation a + b + c+ d ... this equals: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
