Offline | New to Mini's Haven't even got one but thinking about it, got loads of questions.... What is the difference in compression ratio between the Cooper and Cooper 'S' ? Does the 'S' run any differing internals? (ie rods or forged pistons) What's the most power/torque been achieved so far? Has anyone tried using a Rotrex Supercharger in place of the Eaton? ( I used one on my track saxo to mind blowing affect) What sort of load can the standard clutch take before it needs upgrading? Anyone had any transmission/drivetrain issues with increasing boost/load? Management: Is the standard ECU mappable or are people running piggy backs or standalone? Loads more questions soon i'd imagine but i'll see who can answer those 1st LOL |

Offline | Hi there, I'm not an expert so someone correct me if I'm wrong... As far as compression ratios are concerned, Cooper is 10.6:1 and Cooper S is 8.3:1. The Cooper S has forged pistons and conrods, and the exhaust valves are made of something else to cope with higher heat. The Cooper S also has oil jets under the pistons for additional cooling. As far as I know the Cooper S gearboxes are nigh-indestructible, maybe a new clutch is in order for excessive power. The Cooper gearboxes are another story, particularly the MG-Rover ones used in pre-facelift models (happened mid 2004). As for the most power achieved and Rotrex Superchargers, I'll wait for the big boys to post on that. Mine is no where near the most and it doesn't have a supercharger!By the sounds of things you're planning something big...? Hoped that helped. Damian |

Offline | The engine details given by flatlands sounds about right. Atthe moment with the eaton charger the biggest bhp recorded so far is bigshow with 282bhp an 215ft lb of torque with me following behind with 272bhp (239 @ Wheels catch that bigshow lol) but with 205ft lb from memory. In the states Danny from minicorsa has the biggest WHP recorded so far @ 267 but with only 198ft lb, but apparently the torque is coming there. The is talk there maybe a 300bhp eaton car in the UK in the near future???? A guy on here called longboard is testing a rotex kit from Revolution MINI in america, but its still being tested an figures are due to be released soon. In regards to clutches, bigshow is still runing a stock one from memory but an uprated one is recomended. Extra drivetrain losses not that i know too. Aftermarket management so far seems to have failed so far, flash maps have been about for a while but Jan of revolution mini is now doing remote live mapping to the standard ecu. My suggestion is speak to Paul @ 1320 as hes working side by side with Jan of revolution mini ![]() |
