Offline | putting w##ly waving to good use ![]() hi guys, lots of recent posts about how well peoples modified minis have delivered against more recognised performance machinery has anyone found the ideal track to show our little cars off in the best possible light against allcomers, or are there too many variables IE s-charger v turbo, coilovers vs springs etc to say their is a optimum track for all minis remember our fleet have such a range of 200-350bhp and lots of handling set ups from full race to std road even with my limited grasp of motor sport i appreciate that some venues will suit certain cars set up and power delivery, so looking for some guidence for the clueless majority myself included would a good guide begin by looking at all the mini challenge venues and seeing best lap times set against perhaps say a 911, would this give us a clue to where we might be most competitive my local track is silverstone but might be pointless for me to spend time and money gaining experience there if a more suitable venue for the cars dynamics is an extra half hours drive away any ideas beyond bedford, castle combe and oulton park just to open up the debate ![]() as i think we all know whos favorites these are already or are these the no-brainer venues that people recommend because of all of the above in which case sorry for wasting all your time ![]() ![]() carefree |

Offline | Knockhill in Scotland? There are a few corners on some rises, etc... where you need a car with good cornering ability and stability. In my view (admittedly, with very limited experience) this would probably be more important than high BHP as most of the track consists of lots of corners one right after the other. Although, the main straight is on a rise - so it helps tremendously to have good acceleration to get up to speed crossing the start/finish line (on the crest) and good brakes to stop in time for turn one (heading downhill). And.... I must admit, I've only ever driven around it once. I simply must go back there at some point this summer when I've got my Milltek fitted and ECU remap completed. ![]() * * * * * NeuroBeaker Proud owner of "Zeus" (a 'slightly modified' 2004 Mini ONE). |
