Offline | Used Milltek Cat Back system Price ?? Hi, Has anyone any experience of what a fair price for a used Milltek Cat Back system would be for a MINI Cooper S (2003 ) ? I am thinking of selling mine which is about two year old and done about 20,000 miles. I know the RRP is £490 with the latest group buy price was £319.00 for new ones…. Do you think a price of £160.00 is realistic or too low / high ? Thanks Perm ![]() |

Offline | Ant, Reason for the sale is that I have just had a Milltek Manifold fitted and now find the full Milltek exhaust system (manifold + cat back) to loud for the motorway. However it does sound great on fast A and B roads. So I am considering keeping the Manifold and replacing the Milltek Cat Back with the stock exhaust system…. That way I should keep the extra power from the manifold whilst reducing the noise at motorway speeds. However I expect, there will be days when I will miss the extra burble that the Milltek Cat Backs give….. great subtle noise and defiantly just the right volume when matched to a stock exhaust manifold. Cheers Perm. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | hi, i have the same problem - i've got a full miltek system but too loud - but i don't know if changing the cat back would necessarily change the sound in the cabin that much - i've got a bbr cylinder head and i suspect that may also be contributing. i was thinking about lightweight sound shielding options....you'll get more money for yours catback on ebay if you do sell - wait for one of those 10p listing days and put the link on the mini forum classified's section, that'll generate the most interest in the shortest space of time. (removed description of Ebay fraud - AW) i may have done this with some seats i sold on ebay recently.... i was thinking about the jcw cat back my self but i'm not sure that would make much of a difference to the volume... dr. blaze bbr 250 Last edited by AprilWhine : May 14th, 2008 at 05:03 PM. Offline | Thanks for the selling tips… Good to find another BBR owner on MINI2….. { What is your spec ; BBR 240 + head ?? } I have car booked in with Lohen to fit a stock cat back system on 29th May…. So will report back if the noise is significantly reduced…… if I am still not happy, I will ask Lohen to put the stock manifold back on and pair it with my Milltek Cat Back. This combination I know sounds great and I have had no complaints. It is funny as the car is at its most loud around 3500-4000 Revs…. Which is the where I spend most of my time in 6th gear on the motorway….. At non motorway speeds the car sound fantastic with the full system you get loads of growl, pops and burble, not forgetting the noticeable increase in mid range pulling power. Lohen did comment that modified cylinder heads and cams can add significantly to the car noise level so I am sure some of your extra cabin noise will be coming from your revised head work. IMHO I would avoid the JCW cat back, when Roland (GTT) did a test of back pressure, the JCW exhaust did not perform well…. in fact it was worst than stock with Milltek being the best. I also think that the JCW will not be any quieter than the Milltek. Cheers Perm ![]() |
