Offline | What manifold on JCW?? Hi all. Has anyone upgrade their manifold on top of a JCW exhaust system and to what? Can you let me know on fitting issues and any noticeable performance gains please? I'm thinking about a Milltek Manifold & High-flow Cat. Ta. T |

| MINI2 Regular | I really like the idea of having a detachable cat so I originally had short listed the GTT and Janspeed manifolds. I also thought about the RMW but at that stage when I was ready to buy they only had the racing manifold and it was too loud for me (2 children under 2 to transport in the mini!!!). They have a new "street" manifold out which is not as loud. |

Offline | In my oppinion the MiniMania exhaust manifold is the best on the market!! All for the following reasons: 1) price, that manifold is under priced compared to others on the market! 2) torque, OMG its great! just look on the Rolling Road league table and see how much torque my MCS has and how low in the rev's it is! its all about drivability and it gives the same if not better bhp figures as the rest as conducted by 1320 a while ago. 3) if your going to race the car on a track get a 4-1 manifold like a quality Janspeed or GTT, but if your driving around town or dont want to thrash the car all the time then go for a 4-2-1 manifold like the MiniMania example. I have it on my car and i wouldnt change it for anything just due to how much it transformed my car. Alex |

Offline | Manifold. Hi, If you go down the 4-1 manifold & sports catt that gives better responce in the top rev range I would go for the GTT. But If you are looking for an all round increase go for the 4-2-1 and the best of these is the John Cooper Motorsport manifold & sports catt. This was designed to work in conjunction with the JCW head and is used in the challenge series. yours Chris. |

Offline | Thanks all. Good suggestions from you. The car is used for fun and track days but I also take my 2.5 year old out in it on the weekends as he's becoming a bit mini mad (bit like the old man) and the noise needs to be loud on the pedal but reasonable on idle..ishhh . GTT has been on the list but I'll give the others a look. The MiniMania was not on my list but will give it a look. How easy are these cats to remove and insert? Cheers. M |

| MINI2 Regular | I take it this is on a JCW Cooper S ? If so I have upgraded my manifold to the Janspeed one. Easy to fit - just a small amount of cutting of the exhaust heat shield shroud required to refit it as it is larger than the standard manifold. Noticable performance gains ? Yes - with just an intercooler and the manifold I was making 233.1 bhp @ 7009 with 182.7 lb/ft @ 6106. see the dyno chart here http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...ons-apply.html The lower trace is the one you need to be looking at here. I remember describing it as a nice extra slug of power when I had the manifold fitted. Definitely recommended. Noise wise with the JCW exhaust it is quiet when it needs to be, but then opens up when you pile on the revs - you know you want to... John |

Offline | Black20VT, I was reading your thread the other day. I bet she's a beast!! ?? I do have a MCS JCW but running at 200bhp. I have already added the GTT Cold Ram air box which has improved the exhaust note (not to mention the SC whine ) as the car did not have the JCW air box before. My plan has so far been to get the suspension and brakes improved for next track day then I want to look for a bit or extra power so new intercooler, injectors and new manifold should do the job. Janspeed is looking like a good option although there's a big change in price depending on high flow cat option. Did all here go for the high cat option? Anyone got any views on Milltek? |

Offline | On the topic of manifolds...does anyone know much about the JCW manifold, different types/ styles or types of cat, as i know the early exhaust systems were different to the later ones. I heard that some JCW cats have differeent type of wadding (think thats what you call it?) in them.. Any knowledge would be appreciated as i've been offered a second one and don't want to commit until i know a bit more. Cheers ![]() |
