I thought they were joking when they told me they had taken the engine out!

Anyway, some pics from today: (This time as clickable thumbnails as I was told off)

I dont know if thats the original clutch, but thats what it looks like after 58k miles on the car in total. I bought it with 26k on the clock end of August 2006.

Where would the fun be then

The side skirts are off for a little mod, much like Loui suggested.

Crank pulley that is being removed. While it is off, new oil pump rotors are being fitted.

A pair of gearboxes. The new one will be built up and be fitted.

The Cross coil overs have been fitted to the front, and two small holes are due to be drilled in the rear to allow adjustability without dropping the suspension every time.

Well, the answer to your question is; yes

I have been running about like a mad-man getting parts. I have been getting a few bits here and there slowly, then its been a mad rush to gets bits as some engine parts were leaking fluid. Actually, just about everything was leaking fluid that was attached to the block! Almost every crank seal was leaking, water pump was leaking, And there were a few others. It was well worth taking the engine out if nothing else to see the leaks a lot easier.

The car will be complete next Thursday and back on the road. I love working on my car but sometimes its worth geting pro's to do the work. they also tend to do it a lot quicker than I could ever do!

very true lifts and ramps do easier a life make my project car is still working in its base form so i should be glad for that, its not going to be silly but i hope to set the bar for what can be done to a cooper without spending needless money doing the head, and maybe over the winter build a cooper s engine into cosworth spec.
