Oh man! im doing the numbers wrong again! I meant 65 in my post sorry! Atleast its more than 60 with the stock limit so 0-60s can be done in 2 gears

The performance box is primed and ready, 4.2 seconds to beat!

.4 of a second to knock my 4.6 through the gears, how long does a normal gearchange take?0.5? (hope I can hit 70 in 2nd, will it log the speed and time anway if it hits 69?).

Really want to do 0-100 to see if it is quicker than a friends P1

You should beat 4.2 with the later spec box.

0-100 time to beat is 12.6 in mine which is slower than a P1 as is the 1/4 mile time as the P1 does 0-100 mph in 12.27 seconds, with a standing quarter mile in 13.49 seconds.

Would be close with the p1 then as mine should be similar to yours. More tempted to come on Friday now so I could try the PB up the strip

BKE is the later box, stronger and beefed internals, better MPG , better accel through the gears and the ECU had a remap to help it all along

The later box requires 125 more RPM to maintain 65 MPH in 6th gear, so I don't see how it provides better MPG

Well the ECU settings were revised to improve the overall performance and better MPG to boot.

I'm really looking forward to September Ron, will be good to chew the fat over dinner in SF with you

Dont encourage him Big Show, let him keep going up his uphill drag strip, otherwise the Worlds Fastest M45 title might be going up north

Be good to see ya Jaw, could be ideal conditions for a stock looking Mini running 13s.

Hey Bhozar it's Jeremy from NAM.

Did you ever count the two pinion gears on that late box?

I forgot to count, but I did take a picture from the top down, so you can count them.

I think you'll find they are the same, and its just the final drive that differs.

The final drive on this box had 89 teeth, and an LSD. It had BKL on its sticker.

Forgot to say, 'BKE' or 'BKL' (With LSD) on the sticker and/or 89 teeth on the final drive shows a box is a facelift.

Always double check, as I bought the last box from a MINI breaker (MINI Matt), and asked him multiple times if it was a face lift box. He pointed at the sticker on the box and said, "It says BKD, and that means its a facelift." Could have been a mistake, but that means the guy doesnt have a clue, or he lied to me.

I nearly bought one off eBay. I wanted a facelift box, and had been told that BKA was pre July 2004 and BKE was post July 2004 facelift. The vendor told be it was a July 2004 box with BKD so I stayed clear. Seems like you've confirmed my suspicions, cheers!

From my NAM reply:

"Thanks for the pic Bhozar. Yeah there's 31 teeth on the 1/2/5/6 mainshaft pinion in your photo(just like my gearbox). The 3/4/R pinion is obstructed in the pic from getting a count. I think you're right though; it seems like it's just the crown wheel gear that's different between these gearboxes.

Simple math tells me that pre-facelift FD ratios are 2.74:1 for 1/2/5/6 and 4.05:1 for 3/4/Reverse.

Facelift FD ratios are 2.87:1 for 1/2/5/6 and 4.24:1 for 3/4/Reverse.

Anybody know if that is right?

Jeremy"
