i mean smoothness and durability in terms of comparing the stage 2 kit to the stage 3 kit, trying to decide which to go for. you said the stage 3 was more aggressive and engaging.

how do you take payment btw? - paypal? i want the clutch&flywheel.

send it by fedex. from experience, parcelforce tend to "adopt" their packages. fedex even contact you as your item is shipped to organise payment of vat, before it hits the uk, so no time spent in customs.

Just to keep you updated here, haven't noticed anymore issues with slip and break in period is taking slightly longer (due to me having to conserve fuel, most of the maidenhead shell garages are drying up).

While were waiting could we discuss good and bad clutch behavior and what some of do day to day to preserve clutch longetivity?

Less revs, less high torque pull aways. Once you master that you will be use to people beeping you for being so slow.

To be serious.... just dont do really harsh pull away and accelerate hard when the clutch is up and not during gearchanges. Match revs both up and down changes. But most of all..... have fun!! Its a waste of money if you are going to cruise around, you should have just left it stock otherwise.

I uprated this one because the stock clearly couldn't cope, I open it up on the right roads but in day to day traffic cruising is the way to go

I was thinking on a basic level, for example... is sitting at the lights with your foot on the clutch, in gear while waiting or stick it neutral. I ask this as when in neutral the flywheel chatters on idle but when the clutch is depressed it goes away...

Sure its not the clutch release bearing instead?

It's the same chatter the flywheel makes and the release bearing was replaced along with everything else. Hmm...

flywheel chatter

Batou, I installed the same CM FW and CM Clutch Kit last month from RMW.

I noticed the engagement point got higher off of the floor as the clutch disc bed in. My clutch pedal is firmer not lighter than stock. I hope you don't have air in your hydraulic lines.

I've also read that full faced carbon/kevlar discs are prone to odd slippage so don't worry it will apparently pass with spirited use. I've not experienced any clutch slip yet with my CM FX200.

Finally, I'm happy that you're having good times during your break in period!

Jeremy

hi,
i was wondering if you get flywheel chatter on idle like batou does?

It's our sprung clutch discs slapping back and forth-that's all. So yes I have clutch chatter.

At rest manual cars should be in neutral with the driver at the ready(left foot and right arm for us guys across the pond). There's no need to wear out your clutch release bearing or put extra time logging thrust on the crank thrust surfaces with the clutch depressed. You should only select a gear when you want to move or are moving!

I have the chatter too with my FX300, but I was expecting that. The clutch pedal is a lot lighter than it was before, but I have only driven the car for 5 minutes so far.

Thats news im hoping for on mine too! If the 400 is going to be really aggressive then I need to the pedel to be much lighter as mines like doing leg weights!

It sounds a completely normal trait of this combo, do you have that slight vibration/chatter when lightly accelerating from low revs in say 2nd?

Glad to hear the light feel maybe more normal that expected, I'm over 450 miles into break in now and it's still feeling good.

what about the exedy clutch/flywheel combinations - how have people found that - i realise this is more expensive-do they get chatter too?

Yes that chatter is there too but I don't like to lug the motor often.

At least 50 more stop and go miles and you're there Batou!
