Cooper S Air Feed

Seen a few threads and posts on here about difficulty with fitting an enclosed induction kit under the bonnet of a one/cooper with a good unrestricted air feed, for example a BMC CDA due to the filter enclosure itself being quite large, but also the Viper with the air feed. I don't know if anyone has actually done it before but isn't it possible to get hold of the plastic sort of shield thing at the very front of the engine compartment with the front induction air feed scoop above the radiator from a Cooper S to replace the One/Cooper's?. Not as much air feed piping would be needed and is located in a more convenient location so the air feed doesn't need to be bent round to the middle section at the front of the engine bay.

If you look here RealOEM.COM * BMW R53 Cooper S FRONT PANEL you'll see that the hole in question is part of the FRONT PANEL (Item 1) that makes up the majority of the complete front panel assembly.
So to swap it would be a big job!!
Why not cut off the top bit of it to let cold air in all along the top?
