Does anyone know what size the crank pulley is on the cooper s and what the standard boost level is?il be looking to use the standard pulley on the charger and fit one the same size as the crank pulley to my car, if it runs at 12 psi or less if anyone can shed some light as i dont know who to ask it would be much appreciated thanks |

Offline | none of the MINI spec will help you -your boost will be different , you need to calculate your red line rpm against the charger red line of 14000 rpm and pulley to suit using your existing ratios -and engine spec |

Offline | thanks for your help so it would be trial and error with sizes..if i was to try the standard pulley sizes and go from there would that be a starting point and could i regulate the excess boost somehow |

Offline | Could create a boost leak but the only real way to do it is reduce the revs so keep the revs low till you know its the right pressure. Certainly capable of 18psi easily so at 12psi it shouldnt be creating massive amounts of heat either. |

Offline | You will need to do some calculation What VE is your engine ,what size in cc , how much flow do you wish to attain ,what size throttle are you using, then you can calculate the speed of the charger and use 14000 as the maximum available speed and gear to suit boost pressure can be calculated if you have the all the relevant data ,simply bolting on a charger could produce some unwanted effects Compression ratio? camshaft? valve ratio inlet/exhaust and most importantly budget? If the engine is already boosted it helps if it is an NA then it is far more difficult and costly unless very low boost is used which is only going to give small gains |
