Boost connection

Hi Jim

Where have you been attaching your boost gauge? Is there an easy spot for a temporary connection? I am starting to question the results I am getting from the scan tool connected to the OBDII port. I tried another test last night based on my previous test of removing the filter element. When I originally removed the filter element I saw about .3 psi increase in boost. This led me to believe the ducting to the air box was limiting the airflow and this is why the back of the BMP design was open. For last night's test I removed the top of the filter box and the filter element. I then attached a K&N RU-1770 filter to the tube leading to the throttle body. This is a 3.75 inch diameter by 6 inch long filter. This filter has more surface area then the stock filter and the oiled filter should flow better. The filter was resting in the bottom of the filter box. The air temp was 77 degrees and intake air temp was about 103 when moving. The fact that there was no cold air fed to the filter should not have reduced the boost significantly. The end result was I still only saw about .3 psi increase with a total boost of about 10 psi. I guess I am starting to question these numbers and would like to attach a real gauge incase the ECU is not reporting the correct MAP (manifold absolute pressure) for some reason.

there is a manifold port tube with a 1/4" id rubber tube going to the fuel pressure regulator?. it is tough to get to:
remove the intercooler by removing the plastic top shield, loosening the clamps securing the rubber boots at each end and wiggling it out. at the passenger end, find the rubber tube connection on the manifold (this is very hard to reach; i had to use a needle nose plier to get at it), pull it off, insert a tee and a short makeup piece of 1/4" id vac tubing and you have a manifold pressure port. the Autometer 2-1/16" Ultralite electronic gauge is very nice...it comes with a tee and the hose and fittings to get from the tee to the manifold pressure transducer, also supplied. you then run a wire from that to the gauge. $190 for the gauge with install parts. you might want the cup to cover the back of the gauge; another $12

So Jamie (presurized mini) you made your guages yourself? or you bought them from BMP? Just wondering because I was interested in buying them.
Thanks,
Aimee

minicoopersgirl (amie) I made them myself and saved me that extra $357,but let me tell you i had a good 1 1/2 solid days in putting everthing in,wiring in to the factory harness so they come on with the factory lights, and also having the dimer work.I also spent alot of time cutting the carbon fiber bracket, and then modifying here, and there i had it of i bet 30 times, but i have nothing but time to waste right now so i didn't mind

10psi boost

I just installed my BMP filter at the same time installed my BMP meter (boost and oil pressure)

I started playing with it the boost was 10psi at PEAK hold.

I just didnt have time to try the old filter with my boost gauge . My tuner installed everything already at the same time.

I have the nology scan tool and 48 in hg is highest I've seen also. I plan on checking my girlfriend's car soon. I'm not sure, but doesn't the intercooler reduce the boost level a little. mini must quote pre intercooler. I've also read that the better the engine flows the lower the boost will read.
