Talking Better Grip

Hi all. I own a MINI Cooper with the standard 15' alloys. It has the 175/65/15 Dunlop tires and the standard sports suspension. I am not satisfied with the grip provided by these tires at all and I am thinking of getting?Michelins?or?Yokohamas?sized 195/55/15. What is your opinion about this size (will it stiffer the ride, slower its performance, have problems with the speedometer or just have better grip). I would appreciate it if you could suggest to me the best tires size for the 15' rims with the best grip and the less loss in performance and accuracy in the speedometer. Will the car be lowered by putting these tires. As you can understand I am not well educated on these matters and i please need your advice. Thank you very much for your time.

James, check out the FAQ in tires in the FAQ section of MINI2. More or less as long as you are within ±3% of the stock diameter you should be fine. My recommendation would be to talk to your local tire/wheel expert and get his recommendations.

Cheers,

Paul

Re - better grip

Hi jamesj,

I'd recommend Toyo R1R if your local dealer imports it.

Excellent performance both in dry/wet condition, not only low noise compare to those "R" tires but also costs reasonable price.

Cheers
