Offline | Has anyone looked into putting a limited slip diff into an MCS yet? I take delivery next month and am curious to see how much of a difference it makes. I've been lucky enough to drive someone else's around a track and putting the power down coming out of a corner wasn't as good as I had hoped...inside front wheel is starting to spin a little and it's not as smooth on acceleration as it should be because of that. |

Offline | Re: LSD Simon, are you going to alter the final ratio? Please say you are as most of us here are not happy with the long gearing. It's your chance to change this. Also, any idea how much it would be (in AUstralia)? |

Offline | Ratio Thats the idea, we have succeeded on doing it on the Cooper offering 3 different ratio's, the same will hopefully be said for the S. We are also working on a Close Ratio S/C gear kit, but normal engagement, not Dog. I will post more about these products in the next couple of days. |

Offline | Check out MINIMania at this link. They have a lsd for the MCS at $1,695.00. Might be able to get some feed back from them. Check out the close ratio gear kit for the Cooper too. Interesting. http://new.minimania.com/NewMiniMechanical.cfm Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

Offline | limited slip i think you can get the quaife straight from them for $999,, now the real problem is getting it in the car,, looks like you will need to drop the engine down in order to get the transaxel off of it,, then you need to split the transaxel to get the quaife in where it needs to be, no small task or cheap one, if some one knows a good place to get all of this done in the midwest please post it,, cheers |

Offline | More on Limited Slip I have also been checking out the LSD from Quaife. It appears that the labor for this install would be in the $1100 to $1500 range - unless of course you get it done for trade or "Know a guy" however, I can't imagine letting just anyone attempt this. I think the result would be great as the S has a lot of wheel spin under hard cornering. |

Offline | Doesn't the MCS use the same Getrag 6-speed as the Nissan Sentra SER Spec V? It has a limited slip from the factory. I think the Focus SVT uses the same tranny also. Cooper S Chili Red W/White 16x7 BBS RX Borla Exhaust |

| MINI2 Regular | At the moment--It is going ot be hard to save that kinda money--LSD+Labor=over 1500 bux--OUCH. So I was looking for alternatives and came across a company called Phantom Grip. They have a write up in Sport Compact Car. They are using it on the Project 200 SX. I am not a technical guy when it comes to diffs, but I got this from someone who did an install "The Phantom Grip itself is a couple of machined blocks with a hold for the differential pin and four springs the will press the blocks against the spider gears. This pressure will cause both tires to spin but in a corner they can turn like normal." Now I dont know if they are making it for our COopers, they have one for the old school ones, and I have no idea really about any long-term reliability(doing more research) but some of the things I have read are positive and some are negative----Ill keep you all posted.
