Offline | Chips for the Cooper S?? I went to Motorshow 2002 on Wednesday at the NEC in Birmingham, great show, saw the new Super Rover, new Bentley etc etc .......then got into my real world. Superchips had a stand the show, and knowing that they were developing a chip for the Cooper S , I asked one of the Teckies on their stand as to progress...... Bad News as far as I'm concerned though, in that development has proceeded, but they are apparently doing no more on their own , as the best they have got on a straight chip change was 6/10 bhp for Circa £300 , and therefore not really cost effective .....they are continueing to work with Grahame Goode Racing on development , but this will require quote " a change in mechanical parts" ...which is not a route I'd like to take, as it's traceable , and would invalidate my warranty. I wonder if anyone will build a chip , at reasonable cost, for the MCS or is it a pipe dream?? ![]() |

Offline | Most companies will make a custom chip. I got a hold of a company called ERT(euro. racing tech.)they are involved with dupont racing. Mostly Beemer stuff. But they are making a chip for the MCS.ERT CHIP Here is the link. check them out. 02 mini cooper S 99 Black "SVT" Cobra 98 F-250 |

Offline | Yea but it is $749.00. I don't understand why they charge so much just to tune your computer. I mean I would love to have that chip i heard the performance gains were great but, I bet there will be a lot more companies developing chips and other performance stuff for a lot cheaper in the next year or so. I had a 98 M3 and the chip from DINAN was $350.00 I thought that was expensive. All I did was drive up to the dealer and they took there little computer hooked it up to the OBD connector and in the matter of a minute it was done and I had a $350.00 bill. 02 mini cooper S 99 Black "SVT" Cobra 98 F-250 |

Offline | Ok, for anyone interested, I spoke to Graham Goode this morning and they have just finished road testing their conversion which is different pulley and remapped ecu, plus a few other tweeks. Standard exhaust and air box is retained. They are claiming just over 200hp for £1000 + VAT. Sound like a good deal to me. Dyno results and info should be on their website in the next few days. Alistair is the man to contact. www.grahamgoode.com |

Offline | Sounds to good to be true If it is true then more power to them. Anyway for those who got "SMOKED" you should take your gripes to the source and try to resolve and if no resolve is done then go for it. The price might be a steep high but if you want POWER then you have to compromise, i dont see anyone griping at Minimania prices so why try to break the next fellow, it does not make ![]() |

Offline | Why does that sound too good to be true? GGR have an excellent reputation for Cosworth tuning etc. A 35 hp increase is easily obtainable with an increase in boost, hence the pully ratio change. Look at chipping a turbo. An increase from 0.8 bar to 1.2 bar gives you an extra 35 hp straight out of the box - no other mods required. |

Offline | the problem is the guys who are making the stuff for the mini are bmw tuners. they need to realize the mini is a $20k car not a bmw. Eventually the regular companies will come out with stuff for the car. The sad thing is i bought the borla exhaust for the mini, any onther car borla is the most expensive thing out there, on the mini it is the cheapest. If the price was reasonable they would sell alot more.Im in the business and would rather sell more for cheaper than a few expensive .Thatsmy story and im stickin to it. |

Offline | Below was received from Graham Goode Racing 200 BHP MINI COOPER S GGR have now developed a conversion for the COOPER S raising the power from 161BHP in standard form to just over 200 BHP! Maximum torque has also been increased by over 35 LB/FT and more significantly, this is produced 500 RPM lower in the power band at 3565RPM. The conversion consists of a reprogrammed engine management system and modification of the supercharger transmission ratio. This conversion transforms the way the car performs, with improved throttle response and power throughout the rev range. £999.00 + vat fully fitted Superchips - Mini Cooper S (GGR) Customer Vehicle Type Registration No. Comments Max Power Max Torque Superchips Mini Cooper S (GGR) Superchips Superchip 202 BHP @ 6768 Rpm 187 lbft @ 3565 Rpm Mini Cooper S Superchips Original 165 BHP @ 6510 Rpm 150 lbft @ 4081 Rpm Superchips : 01280 816781 Cooper S,200Bhp+ Graham Goode Racing/Superchip Conversion, MagnaFlow Exhaust,British Racing Green,White Roof,Chilli Pack ,Gravity Full Leather, 17" S Spoke Alloys,Multi-Function Strg Wheel,Elec. Offline | Superchips for MCS coming soon The Superchip for the MCS is nearly done. They are providing the software for the GGR version. No news if that will be available in the US since the GGR price includes installation. I will be providing Superchip software in Northern Ca. So I will keep you posted as soon as this is available. If you have a MC, the software is available now. 02 MCS - All options 00 BMW M5 |

Offline | Does anyone know if the GGR kit will be available in the US? What would it take to be provided here in the us? Reflashed ECU and provide the parts to customers??? Like APR or GIAC does for Audi and VW owners? To me it sounds like a good kit and I am not sure about the $ conversion, but it could be worth every penny. Thanx. |

Offline | GGR kit in US Yes, the GGR kit will be available in the US. GGR is working out the details and instructions for the US market. More info will be coming in the next week or so, so stay tuned! Superchips, who makes the software for the GGR kit, will also have new ECU software for the MCS. So, if you want the full power, you could do the GGR pulley upgrade and software, or just go with standard software for a bit less power. As soon as I hear the news from Superchips I will post it to the board. Thanks, Paul 02 MCS - All options 00 BMW M5 |
