Offline | Hoi QQQ I believe that we spoke each other in the demo Cooper S at MINI Rotterdam, as I just to be a sales man over there and I am glad to here that the change of colour packed out good (from red to dark sliver) As for the tuning check out the Digi-tec site that is also good value for money (www.digi-tec.de) or www.maxi-tuner.de. hope to hear from you some time. Offline | Hi Ivar, Yeah, you were the second sales person I had to deal with. In total I had three different sales persons. MCS is just fine, love the colourcombo. Just feel that the engine could use a bit more grunt, especially in the low/middle revs. I know the tuners you linked, thanks. I also contacted Hartge, they offer a 200 hp kit for euro 1.250 (excl. VAT). Gonna think really hard now which one to pick. Moved from BMW to Ford then? Already had a chance to drive the Focus RS Turbo? |

Offline | I know very little about engines but im gunna ask anyway. ![]() would the boost pressure increase not put too much strain on the engine without any engine modifications? does anyone know if Hamann provide any kind of warranty with this upgrade? Offline | Hi Plaztik, Received some documentation from Hamann today, including an export pricing list. The kits are available within 1 or 2 weeks. The official Hamann price list was a bit different than the one I received from the Benelux distributor. The CS 1 - 4 kits cost respectively euro 1,150; 2,390; 2,990 and 4,290 (1 euro = approx. 0.98 US$). Better get the stuff directly from Hamann. The US distributor of Hamann is: WHEEL POWER INC. 16401 Gothard Street Huntington Beach, CA 92647 Phone: +1 (0) 714 - 375 96 66 Fax: +1 (0) 714 - 375 77 90 Website: http://www.wheelpower.com Sorry to hear that the Hartge kit will not be available in the US. If the only reason for that is that you can't get (at least) 95 octane petrol, I would think the same goes for the Hamann kit (all tuning kits have in principle the same modifications, consisting of a remap, change of supercharger transmission and sportsfilter). BTW is it really true that you can get maximal 93 octane in the states? I had a phone call with Hartge last Thursday. Their tuned MCS gave 215 HP on the dyno. They will also introduce a exhaust system by spring next year. I'm still doubting between Hamann and Hartge, the prices are the same and both tuners have a good reputation. Good luck ![]() |

Offline | Well, now I am scared about looking at conversion kits at all, if 93 octane won't cut it with any of them. I have only ONCE (ever in my life) seen gas offered higher than 93. I noticed a station in Tucson, Arizona with 100 octane gas. They only had it at one pump, and that is the only place I have ever seen it. So, I wouldn't bet on regularly finding anything higher than 93 (which is pretty standard for what we call Super Unleaded). Does anyone else have any insight to this? ![]() |

Offline | Just like everything else, US and European octane formulae are different. 93 octane here is equivalent to a higher octane in Europe. Anyone know how much higher? 2007 DS/W MCS LSD, sport suspension, Enkei RPM2 wheels 2002 EB/W MCS Sport package, Rogue intake, Borla exhaust, 15% pulley & Madness sway bar |

Offline | 95 octane (RON) in Europe is 91 octane (PON) in the US, see here for a conversion table. I'm sure 93 (PON)octane will do just fine. Last edited by QQQ : Nov 2nd, 2002 at 09:39 AM. |

Offline | In the Northeast, Sunoco has 93 and 94 octane at every station. Here in Iowa, its tough to fine 92 let alone 93 octane. There is one station down the street from my house that carries 100 oct unleaded (Sunoco Racing Fuel) for about $3.50/gal. They also have 110 oct low-lead, but probably wouldnt be a good idea to stick in a new engine. Those Hamann kits look quite good and relatively affordable, especially when compared with the JCW kit. $3k for a little over 200HP isnt terribly bad. One thing that does suck is that the new racing Neon is same price as an MCS but does 0-60 in 5.4 and comes with a lot more HP. Mini S |
