| MINI2 Master | NX N-tercooler Reduces air inlet charge temperature on turbo applications for increasses up to 50 horsdpower. For supercharged or turbo applications where nitrous is not an option, NX offers another alternative, the "N-tercooler." Using either nitrous or carbon dioxide, this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically. In a recent dyno test, a turbocharged Honda equipped with an NX "N-tercooler" increased its baseline by an astounding 52 horsepower! If it makes horsepower, it must be Nitrous Express! http://www.overboost.com/obs/product.asp?pid=20279 |

I saw their water injection on a MINI and an MR2 but I don't have exact performance numbers. It has an adjustable controller you can mount near the dash if you want to optimize the flow while driving. More info, Aquamist www.aquamist.co.uk |

Offline | I think that there would be a big difference in spraying some water on the intercooler (not that it won't help. I think that it would help a bit) and Spraying sub zero degree Nitrous all over it.. But both are a good idea, just think that the nitrous will be better, and yes, also more costy, but I would think that it would be used only for track events.. |

Offline | You could aslo go with a water intercooler spray system (not the same as Aguamist which sprays water into the airflow). You wont get the same frigid temps that the nitrous will produce but a water/alcohol mixture does work well. I've also seen setups simalar to the Aquamist, which uses propane. Propane has been used on diesel engines for a long time. Propane has a similar effect as nitrous. On forced induction setups I've seen it used to only cool the air in the charge pipes. Offline | Yeah so is brake and some transmission fluids. But when properly used and stored it can be used safely. BTW, just because nitrous is non-flammble does not mean that its harmless and has no potential dangers. |

| MINI2 Master | I notice a dramatic difference between summer and winter driving. I can measure intake temp with my scan tool and there is a HUGE discrepency between IAT sitting at a light and IAT while cruising or at WOT. Its claimed that engine efficiency is increased by 1% for every 10° temp decrease. Nitrous cools the intake charge 60°-80° in a typical nitrous setup (which this is not). -- Cheese |
