Offline | I'm thinking of "chipping" my Cooper S next time I'm visiting Germany. A job like Rumphorst may be considered. However, coming back home after the trip, what will the BMW dealer say if I'm experiencing a fault in engine or other normally covered by the factory warranty? Will the rub their hands and say "This is gonna cost you!" because of the modifications? I expect any warranty given by the chip-dealer in Germany will be no good 2000 kilometres away? If the modification only involves changing the electronic tables in the ECU, can this be discovered by the dealer? Are there any change-log facilities in the ECU/OBD2 interface that can be read out? Regards, Tore ![]() |

Offline | ???????????????? Hi, There are many posts on this very topic but it's good to see them coming up again. It is very uncertain at the moment if your dealer can in fact detect any changes to the mapping of the ECU, however, ask your dealer first and then make up your own mind. Would be very handy though if someone could actually post stating whether their dealer has spotted it. Not much of an answer but there you go. Alan fae bonnie scotland ![]() |
