Offline | Hi folks, just received a very interesting e mail from graham goode racing of leicester (UK). they now have a 200 (+) BHP conversion for £999 + VAT. not sure what is involved, but makes the john cooper garages conversion at £3,500 (+ VAT i assume) look a tad over priced). details on www.grahamgoode.com regards |

Offline | Ok I was curious about this upgrade with Graham Goodes as I am waiting to get the upgrade done at John Cooper who are indeed charging around £3500. I phoned John Cooper and asked them what was involved in the upgrade and was informed that a lot of things are done, including engine managment upgrade, supercharger upgrade (not sure how) + the main important things are they replace bits in your engine including a polished head, replaced valves and lots of other things which I can't remember because its too early in the morning. On top of that, its all warrented through BMW so if your car blows up, it gets replaced! and its been tested! I then phoned Graham Goodes and basically all they do is remap the engine managment and change the belt or something on the Supercharger....they don't do anything else to the engine. They were also quite vaugue on what happens if your engine blew up (you can phone them yourself and ask) Basically if you got it done with them, and something went wrong, BMW would not touch it and they said that they would possibly look at it but if the worst came to the worst, they would put the car back to how it was in the first place! not very reasuring in my books!!! Basically its up to the individual but I'd rather pay £3500 and get Warrenty back up, more stuff done to my engine and the respect of having it done at John Cooper nuff said! |

Offline | bobby, i wasn't having a pop at john cooper garages - just as a lay person, i couldn't get my hear around the huge gap in prices. goode's have a very "good" reputation for mods - i know i had an escort cosworth done by them in the 90's and pals have had their impreza's done with glowing reports. suppose its a case of you pays your money...... |

Offline | I drove the GGR cooper S a few weeks ago and to be honest I wasn't very impressed. It didn't feel like it had an extra 35bhp, although the car only had 500 miles on the clock and I was two up. Brakes were absolutely stonking though. Made your eyeballs stick to the windscreen. |

Offline | MINI warrenty intact? I asked the dealer (Sytners Leicester) about the JCW upgrade package when I picked the car up and they said that this wasn't covered by the BMW cover at the moment. However they expected it to be true around Mid 2003. So is it covered or not? Steve 02 MCS EB/White Roof Chilli, Leather & Sat Nav 40K+ miles of fun 18" Alpina alloys |

Offline | ImageKing: Both the Cooper works and Cooper S works package are covered by MINI/BMW warranty, although I'm not sure TLC is at the moment, I think that comes in to affect in January ? Cheers Michael JCW Works S, DS/DS, Chilli, DSC, HAB, HK, panther black/lapis blue (Cloth) S0007 |
