Even without a single-mass flywheel, the quaife will make a little more noise, especially on deceleration in gear. It's part of the cost of massive grip out of the corners.

I had a Quaife fitted this weekend with new bearings, together with an M7 flywheel and Sachs sports clutch.

I also have some noise when releasing the throttle, and when accelerating especially below 2000 revs. I have no extra vibrations, just some noise.

I understand this normal with the Quaife dif? I can live with it as long as I know there is nothing to about it and everything is ok.

That's funny I never had any extra noise from my quaiffe.
Now the flywheel and clutch will definitely make more noise. Since I never added them to my own vehicle that may explain why I never heard the noise. I have heard them other vehicles though and there is a noticeable difference.

The OEM flywheel is segmented and I can imagine it dampens out any noise from the engine, clutch and dif.

The M7 flywheel I have is also called segmented by M7 but with different kind of metals to dissipate the heat from the clutch quicker, so not with rubbers. It is one flywheel.

Maybe the (worm)wheels from the dif needs some running in and it will get less over time?

The whole setup feels great by the way.

Just to clarify, the stock dual-mass flywheel has two sections with an elastomer sandwiched in between; this is different than the “segmented” flywheel. The segmented flywheel refers to divisions of the heat shield into segments to prevent warping, Welcome to RPS Performance Products - Cyn-R-G Flywheels , while this seems to be necessary, in practice warping is a rarity unless for instance, the flywheel is superheated from competition use and afterwards exposed to parking lot burnouts with the parking brake applied on a 100F day.

That's a nice explanation with better words for each type of flywheel, and we now know where M7 gets their flywheel from, but I still don't know if it's normal to have some extra noise under 2000 rpm and when taking the foot of the gas when in gear.

The noise disappears after pressing the clutch so I assume it's the flywheel/quaife combination that makes some noise. Also no noise with the clutch up in no gear.

It's been a long time but my memory is there is a little more noise. I believe I was the first person in the U.S. to buy a Quaife for a MCS and the second to actually get it in the car. I think I ordered the Quaife the week after I got the car in 11/03. No problems and lots of autocrosses on the car now.
