Offline | Thread Merged Since there were two of these threads basically the same, I merged them. Unfortunately that ate the poll on the newer thread, I'll see if I/the software can avoid that in the future. Now back to your regularly scheduled exhaust. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | It was circular stainless steel with an obscene diameter! The huge diameter went all the way back to the cat, so it must have drastically reduced the back pressure. I sold the car and unfortunately do not have any pics. Cooper S BRG/B, Chili, DSC, Overheated seats, auto A/C, OBC, heated mirrors/jets, Boost + CD. delivered 24.09.02 (ordered 11.09.01). Offline | I haven't seen one after market system that comes close to being properly priced. The home brew Supertrap looks to be very reasonable pricewise. After all, the requirement is a few feet of pipe, a muffler, several bent steel straps for the hangers and a little welding rod. $500 plus is ridiculous. I'll be trying a single chamber Flowmaster muffler and single 2.5" pipe from cat to tip. Parts and labor will be about $225 where I live. Cooper S Red/White/White, Air, Computer, Cloth, DSC, Cold Weather. August build. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Which one? Ok power would be the first concern. Second would be weight and third would be noise level. IN other words which one puts out power, isnt' extremely heavy and makes NOISE Jordan Soblick 2002 Mini Cooper S Dark Silver w/white roof and mirror caps, Blue/Black leather, Sport, Premium, 17" S-lite wheels, fully loaded!! |

Offline | exhaust findings New to the MINI2 forums... My name is Randy Webb, and I own and operate MINI-Motorsport in Denver, CO USA. What I have been doing over the past few months is gathering and testing the different systems out there: exhausts, intakes, wires, etc. to determine the best fit for a particular customer's needs. Since I supply just about all the stuff out there, and willing to test and supply anytihng I don't have, I think I can offer a pretty unbiased view on what's available. Here are my thoughts: First, all of the systems have their strong points. Which one is right for you depends on your personal requirements out of your MINI. Magnaflow: 33 lbs. 12-18 horsepower increase depending on other modifications. A great sound, the throatiest and most aggressive of the group, but a little louder than the others. All stainless steel, two muffler, one resonator. Resonator comes off of the cat and steps up the diameter from 2 /14" to 2 1/2" and the system remains at that O.D. through the entire routing. Very well designed fit and finish with the best of the bunch for mounting. $599 ![]() Quicksilver: 20 (!) lbs. 9-12 horsepower increase depending on other mods. Very nice, British sound that is not as aggressive as the Magnaflow. All stainless steel, one muffler. 2 1/4" throughout the entire system. Nicely finished tip design, and great weight savings. Pricey at $799 ![]() Borla: 34 lbs. 7-9 horsepower depending on other mods. Very similar in sound to the Quicksilver, maybe a tad more quiet. All stainless steel, two muffler. 2 1/4" off the cat that Ys into two smaller 1 7/8" pipes to the mufflers and out to the tips. Lots of pieces (5) to work with, so the fit is a little trickier than the other systems. Very subtle, nice looking tips. Nicely finished. $669 ![]() Borla Race: A new development. No dyno tests yet. The system appears to use the same basic design as the street system, but with smaller, less restrictive mufflers and a resonator off of the cat. No pricing information available yet. Stay tuned...but based on the design, I don't believe it will be making as much power as the Magnaflow. Supersprint: No independent dyno information, but claims of 10-14 horsepower depending on other mods. I haven't dealt with this system because of quality and price issues. It is big bucks, has a whole lot of pieces, and apparently must be modified to fit. That said, it is the only other system that is 2 1/2" though it doesn't stay that way through the whole exhaust. $1160 ![]() There's my evaluation. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions on my observations. Randy randy@mini-motorsport.com |

Offline | Eric, RE: Cooper Exhaust GRM said that the Helix made the most power (~111hp) with Mini Mania in second (~110hp.) They gave high marks to both exhausts for weld quality, and ended up going with the Mini Mania for their track car because it fit with their trailer hitch, and apparently had stronger midrange gains (wording is vague in the article.) Though the peak numbers weren't up by much, their dyno sheet for the MM exhaust showed decent gains throughout. HTH, Jeff ps: Great to have you here Randy! | Addict | I've been asking them since october about their MCS exhaust, and not ONE SINGLE REPLY!! That kinda turns me off of Milltek without knowing anything about the exhaust. Other than that I haven't heard anything other than what's on their site. I just sent them yet another email. Whatever. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Just put on the Supertrapp. Sounds great. Not too loud, and the tone is a medium tone, that doesn't drone you out of the car. Performance, seat of the pants method is noticeably improved. For the cost, and weight loss alone I would recommend it. The sound and performance are just a plus. If you haven't already, check out Garfield's dyno data with the Supertrapp. The Supertrapp produces some of the best power too. Offline | I changed my vote Supertrapp now that it's been added as an option. I will need a trailer for getting everything I need to out of town autocrosses so I voted for the Supertrapp. Another advantage of this system is that I will be able to tune it to my needs as my modifications change or even for different course designs. I'll probably combine this with a Super Sprint header down the road after it's been tested by others. I'm going to call it a 3ST exhaust. I'll be tempted to use Super Sprints center pipe with the Y at the end and then run two SuperTrapps, one on each side of the rear. I think this could look really good although it would weigh more and may not be of any benifit power wise. 2001 & 2002 SCCA, STS Pro Solo National Champion. 2003 SCCA, Solo2 Nationals 8th, co-driver (Courtney) 2nd in 03 & 04 2003 JCW 210, London Stainless Headers, custom cat back with 5" SuperTrapp, 15x7.5 SSR's and 16x8 ce28n's, Quaife, KW Comp 2 Ways |

| MINI2 Newbie | Obehave, You are a funny man! Once I decide on which sway bar I'm gonna spend my hard earned money on,,,,,that'll take care of my understeer. Choices, choices. I finally decided on the BMP intake though. I understand you're happy with yours? | MINI2 Newbie | Obehave, Definitely will provide feedback. It would be nice to be able to compare the differant bars. I am guessing one can't go wrong with any of the three bars out there. I thought you were funnin' me with the understeer question. I misunderstood. later, John Chilli Red over Chilli Red Cooper S, all options but Nav, 2 piece 17" wheels, side moulding body kit, rally lights, black bonnet stripes, Supertrapp exhaust, BMP intake w/cold air mod, and RDR sway bar.
