Interesting the location of the "Highbeams" icon in the dashboard. My highbeams indicator is located in the steering wheel mounted tach.

Also, that car wasn't going 150....(Nice try)

First off, the picture isn't real, second of all, if it was real, than you need to see your dealer very quickly, not only is your battery light on, you oil lights on, your engine light is on, you signal light is on, your tire pressure, your abs even your parking brake light is on. For god sakes, the engine temp. is shooting through the roof. It's fake, but it's kinda funny, how'd you get the needle to go all the way over like that?

P.S. your mileage is 999999999 miles, something must be very wrong. Even your gas light is on when your tank is full! LOL

But the high beam light is where mine is.

The picture is absolutely genuine, it has not been “touched” up in any way.

That's an electrical fault caused by the Flux Capacitor.

That photo was taken in 1885 by the way.

I don't doubt the picture is genuine, rather I dispute your claims that it was taken while the car was doing "150" (More like 125MPH if it was an MCS).

It looks like a factory dashboard test to verify the functionality of the dash instrumentations.

You got it Paul, it's the speedo from the DeLorean.

Just adding to the madness here...

Are UK speedos in KPH/KMPH or MPH?

Canada is KM/H, and the smaller ring is M/H

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'd say that given the French influence in Canada, they probably use KPH. The French had a lot to do with SI units.

I think Australia may use MPH, but I'm not sure of that.

The MINI photo I have in front of me (I'm reading a car magazine as I type) does have a second KM/H gauge.

Ah, but go back and re-read the original posting. M2 made no such claims. Very cheeky.

My guess is that the computer freaked out, hopefully only momentarily ("Gromit! The trousers have gone wrong! Stop them!")

It's probably too soon to get a straight answer out of M2 just yet, but perhaps he can at least tell us whether the photo preceeded an expensive repair.

Cheers,

Dave

Actually Canada used to employ the same "English" measuring system until the mid 1970's. I think that Canada under then Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, made the switch to the most logical and easier to understand Metric system.

There was an attempt to make a similar switch here in the US around the same time (My father in law was part of that Mathematical/conversion comittee in Washington, D.C.)but all attempts at switching US to Metric (And thus joining the rest of the world) mostly failed.

Until a few years ago in some streets in Miami you could see speed limit signs in both Miles and KM/H. A lot of people actually taught that the "real" speed limit was the later, but expressed in Miles per hour....oopps!

That's why the had to take them down because of all the speeders.

I never understood the English system (Miles, pounds, yards, gallons, etc) as I was born in a country where the Metric system is the official measurement system. Metric is so much more easy to understand and convert...just divide or multiply by 10....

I agree that the metric system is much easier than the British imperial measurements. I haven't got a clue about pounds, ounces, yards or gallons either!

Most younger people use the metric system now, but on the road and in pubs, the imperial system is still king.

Just imagine how hard it must have been before the UK currency went metric. You had pounds, shillings and pence and not a factor of 10 to be seen anywhere.

Off-topic a little this bit:

Born UK 1977.

I know my height in feet and inches. I read the speedo in miles per hour, and read the road signs in miles and yards. I know the length of a swimming pool in metres, and got 'metre' certificates for swimming. I use metric money, know the weight of my cheeses and crisps in kg's, but buy pints of beer, and litres of milk, which I still refer to in their 'pint' value.

We're in a kind of meperial state.

I'm confused.
