Scorpion Exhaust and Highflow Cat

I have replaced the stock exhaust (which is a heavy piece of speghetti) with a stainless steel Scorpion exhaust. I have also replaced the stock cat with a highflow cat. Net result is an extra 10KW at the wheels (no dyno but a conservative figure provided by my mechanic who specialises in BMW performance mods). Midrange is stronger due largely to the smoother exhaust flow and top end has more fizz which is where the new cat helps. It also sounds the dogs. Almost as quiet as stock at idle (slightly deeper rumble) and nice and throaty at higher RPM without sounding "ricey". Best described as a British Sports Car growl! I have a link for the videos which I will post shortly.

BMW E36 M3R Alpine White - Engine : 6 cylinder; DOHC 24 valve Capacity : 2990cc Power : 243KW @ 7000 rpm Torque : 323NM @ 3900rpm Produced : Jan - May 1995 How many :15 ONLY

A$2100 + $80 for fitting if you don't do it yourself. I watched while they did it and took less than an hour.

$300. Apparently used by V8's. Still uses the O2 sensor wire from the MINI and is 100% legal. The stock cat is a real bootleneck apparently. I used ALS Performance in Sydney who are affiliated with QSZ in Melbourne. Full benefits won't be realised till the ECU learns the new dyanmics although after about 100kms I really did start to notice the power delivery difference.

nice! very subtle indeed!

does the high-flow cat make much of a difference??

i ask the guy at QSZ and they said they dont hv any high-flow cats for MCS for 300....at da moment

they can however order the Milltek cat which is ridiculously expensive!

cos if u just get the Milltek cat-back, the performance gain would be v small since the cat is the bottle-neck...

In fact, the OE manifold is extremely restrictive and I'm sure you'd realise a 6-10BHP power gain even without a high-flow cat-back exhaust. True, the cat is a bottle-neck, but I'd still have said you'd get a decent power gain with just the Milltek. I may be wrong!

Still, the Milltek came after the filter and exhaust for me; have yet to get it dyno'd but it feels like it's got plenty grunt

A heat resistant sealant. As you can see, with soo much heat it turns the stainless steel a bronze colour.

Is the Scorpion available in the U.S.? It seems significantly less expensive than the Milltek.

A better shot from underneath

Exhaust has NO "T" junctions for smooth high volume exhaust flow. I have attached another pic which is from a Scorpion exhaust dealer in Melbourne, Australia.
