Weight For It!

I see that the M derivative of the M1 series (alleged to be called the M2), is anticipated to have 220bhp. How do you guys reckon this might compare with the Works S kit, power to weight ratio? (Seems to me it'll be a slower car).

What is your source Tone? I always understood the M2 would be equiped with a 250 bhp turbo charged engine. Seems to me that BMW would want the M2 to be competetive with the Focus RS and Golf R32??

Didn't the head dude from Mini USA say the they are keeping the Mini seperate from the BMW line. Using there own tuner, JCW. The tuner for BMW is "M". If "M" stepped into the ring with a so called M2 it would essentially have integrated the Mini into the BMW line?

The M2 is the intended coupe version of the new BMW 1-series tuned by BMW's house tuner M-Sports. It's not an M-MINI

QQQ - this is quoted from Autocar (UK), so it's definitely not set in stone. Think we'd better forget it, and just wait until the model comes out.

Incidentally, I last had a Peugeot 106 gti weighing in at 960 kg, or thereabouts. It's old technology now, but in its day (like the 205) it was a class leader. I now see that the new 180bhp, Peugeot 206 gti, according to Jeremy Clarkson (can't find it in the mags), is also a lot lighter than the MINI. The supercharger would'nt make that much difference. Does anyone know why this is?
