Offline | Hi Im hoping to get some ideas to what to do with my Cooper. Having browsed the board it seems that the Pieprcross Induction Kit PK222 is the way to go. Also the superchip for the cooper and maybe an exhaust system... In what order do u recommend to make tunings on the Cooper..ie 1st Induction 2nd Exhaust 3rd chip or doesnt it matter....?? And is the Pipercross and Superchip the right way to go down? Im planning on doing Induction kit then chip then exhaust, is this correct or is an other order better... Im looking for a sweeter sound and some extra HP, maybe 3-5 from Induction, 5-8 from chip and 3-5 from exhaust.... Help me MINI One Kenobi ure my only hope... Offline | Also can someone explain what is an induction kit, I dont understand the term that well, how does it differ from just popping in an airfilter (does induction and airfilter negotiate same issues??) or is the induction what holds the airfilters in the first place Help me MINI One Kenobi ure my only hope |

Offline | Check the MINI2 Dyno Day thread, we had 5 different spec MC's on the Rollers in a roll... The figures start at this post: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...631#post419631 |

| MINI2 Senior | Mods Hi I have had superchip JCW Filter and Magnex and IMO i would get the car dynoed first then do superchip and get it dynoed to see the difference and if there is not much you can get your money back, then induction then Exhaust. If you look at Dyno figures on the above thread there where some weird results, one of the standard coopers out did a cooper with chip etc. All in all if i started again i wouldn't spend money on superchip IMHO Phat |

Offline | Re: Mods The standard Cooper only 'out did' the MiniSpares Cooper, but that was kind of in a 'half tuned' state, and not all combinations of mods will gain results, as that proved. Simon wasn't entirely surprised either! ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | Modded Paul Mines been modded and when it was Dynod it came out with the same figures as monsta cooper with just an air filter, I understand each dyno is different but i think like me you have got to be realistic as each mod may not improve performance it may just make a great noise. phat |

| Test thread infiltrator | induction kit really does nothing but noise unless you can sort out the heat issues... chip isn't really about high end power, just making it smoother to drive... exhaust seems to be generally good for getting torque up... With those three I doubt if you'd get more than 8 above standard... perhaps 5. Get the induction kit and exhaust though and the sound will have you grinning even wider ![]() |

Offline | First of all thanks for all responses much appreciated... I read the whole Pipercross thread +200 replies and it seems the Viper kit used to mean u had to remove the airbox or something, then it says in the end that problem is not there anymore...and that u could remove it and get standard on again for service purposes ;-) Can someone recommend weather to go for PK222 kit or Viper kit and what the main up and downsides are respectively? |

Offline | I have the pk222, I would recommend it, great for noise when pushing car hard. Normal noise when poodling around town. Downsides are what to do when servicing, take it off or leave it on. Warranty concerns. It sucks the bonnet lining so you will need to put gaffer tape or some other protector to prevent this. Insurance premium increase Despite what people say I feel sure that there is performance gain to be had even without a cold air feed. good luck ps I fancy a cat back exhaust don't think I'll bother with a chip though. CHILLI RED, CHILLI PACK, MAGNEX & PIPERCROSS BAGS OF FUN gone now but not forgotten, an s next time ? |

Offline | OK have been doing my homework now... As for the intakes it seems the Pipercross Viper or Green Filter Cold Air intake is the way to go, they seem to handle the hot air problems with intkaes and it seems that they do give more BHP and Torque, sound gets somewhat mushier but not as much as regular intakes as they are capsulated Carbon or aluminum i think and this keeps noise down and heated air from engine out somewhat.. As for chips either get chip or do a powerchip ECU software upgrade.... Powerchip seems cool, anyone done this... Anyone got ideas to the above ie cold air intakes compared to standard intakes as well as chipping or software modify original chip? Inquiring minds would like to know.. Help me Obi One Kenobi ure my only hope.. |
