Offline | Jcw & Fuel Consumption My question is this to other fellow JCW owners: In all the articles I have read in magazines and listening to the on line chat/interview with Mike Cooper, the following quotes from Mike cooper appear: "the gas mileage/ Fuel consumption is virtually the same, and might well improve upon normal driving conditions." I do not know about anyone else but my fuel mileage has dropped from 25-28 Miles to the gallon to 18-19 miles tito the gallon. Now obviously if I really step on the gas pedal my consumption is way down. So I want clarify that without any change of my driving habits since the JCW conversion my fuel consumption now averages around 18-19 miles per gallon. When I say I get this mileage, it is based on the same amount of driving: highway approximately: 70% & 30% City. This has not changed either; the ratios of HIGHWAY/CITY are the same I have always traveled. Now to clarify my MILES TO THE GALLON. I am talking actual MPG. IE: fill-up tank and travel X amount of miles. Fill up again, and then divide distance traveled to gallons Filled/Used. I am not taking the numbers from the on board computer. For work records, I have all my mileage and receipts for gas dating back to September 2002 wheb I took delivery of the COOPER S, so I know what I was getting before, and what it is now. Now my thinking is if you boost performance to a vehicles engine by getting more air through the engine, more fuel will also be added to the situation causing more fuel to be used. I really do not care about the decrease, however for the fun factor is worth it, but if MIKE COOPER is saying and advertising, that “based on his testing the fuel economy will remain the same and in some situations improve” then is the MINI not tuned correctly? Anyone out there with the JCW conversion please respond to me as to your experience so I have something to compare it to. Thanks to all who respond. "the gas mileage/ Fuel consumption is virtually the same, and might well improve upon normal driving conditions."X Mini makes driving fun. Just like when you first got your permit to drive Last edited by miniquick : Aug 5th, 2003 at 01:35 PM. |
