Offline | O2 Sensor Where do I get an oxygen sensor for my header without a cat. My "Service Engine Soon" indicator stays lit after I installed the header. And, please don't tell me to get a header with a cat. cause I don't want to. |

Offline | easiest and chepest solution is. Get the thread size out of your old cat, normally M12x1.5 its a fine thread. then get a nut with the same thread, and have an exhaust place drill a hole and weld the nut in possistion. Normally if you got a custom exhaust place they will have all the bits needed for it. jobs a good'un Liam or have i missunderstood??? its all about the GG (or in this case the uhhh SCREW) Last edited by Liam"S" : Aug 29th, 2003 at 02:47 PM. |

Offline | also, I'm by no means a prude, but isn't it against the law in the US to do this??? '02 EB/W MCS w/Sport pkg, Rogue intake, Helix 15% pulley, Magnecor wires, Bosch platinums, Magnaflow exhaust, Exel white wheels. |

| MINI2 Senior | Yeah... and its also against the law to speed, to spit on the sidewalk... yadda yadda yadda. While I wouldn't personally do it - its his risk. BTW he didn't say that he would be driving his car on the road this way. Maybe he's racing or tracking and wants more performance. Lets not all jump at once. I believe in keeping the enviro in good shape. But Its a farce to let stinky polluting diesel vehicles go unchecked and be so restrictive of modified cars. The cat converter b4 50k miles is such a load-o-crap too. ...Some if not most of the aftermarket cats do a better job than the OEM. |

Offline | Do something like Liam"S" said. Take your O2 sensor to a parts store screw on a nut that fits, buy two, then have them welded on, then drill holes. You may not be able fake out the ECU - it knows there should be a difference between the two sensors. I have heard some states use this rule "NO CAT, NO CAR". They WILL impound your car. Battleship Grey Metallic/B/B MCS with every option known to man/BMW less CD changer and NO car problems. |

Offline | I've read in the forum last year that it is also illegal to switch out the factory cat with an aftermarket cat unless the factory cat is damaged or worn out. If so, those of you with aftermarket cats should check yourselves also. |
