Oil

Anyone know what BMW put in the engine?

I suspect its not going to be fully synthetic as most BM's have semi-synthetic.

Any pros/cons to using fully synthetic in our MINI's ?

I have no Idea of the SAE grade or visco. of the oil they use.. but from what I've seen it looks to be Castrol.

I don't know specifically for the MINI but I was told that an engine needs mineral content from day one to help bed in - after the first 5/6K modern engines are best of with Fully synthetic but then there comes a time when you should switch back - I had a 911 which the dealer said at 60K was past the fully synthetic stage and should switch back to 50/50 mix

Theres definitely another thread about 'early' oil around somewhere
