Jubilee Clip

Hello,.

Need some help!!

Im going to fitting a replacement filter, and need to get the airbox out.
Im reasonably mechinically minded, and cant see any problem with fitting the new filter (pipercross PK222),....but,....I cannot get the clip off that joins the airbox to the black bendy tube which the new filter will fit onto.

Any help from folks who have already fitted this would be MUCH appreciated.

Ive fitted filters in the past, and its never even been a question of applying brain power,...but, im telling you,...this particular design of clip has got me stumped, as i just cant get it moved at all!!!!!!

Help!!!

not being the most technically minded individual, i set about mine with a screwdriver. You just need to prise the clip apart.

i'm sure i just heard some gasps of horror, but it worked for me

Try using pilers. If you look closely at the strap, the clip has a little catch. Compress the clip with pilers and wiggle it a bit to clear the catch and its off. I had me confused for a moment too.

So its not going to work like a jubilee clip where im trying to squeeze the clip so that it sort of expands?

Im actually looking to get the small catch to 'duck' underneath the clip and then it will come free, is that right?

I take it that once it is off,....however i manage it,..i can replace the clip with ANY jubilee clip of my choosing, of an appropriate size?

The clip won't spring off. It's got a little slider built in that lets it expand slightly. It doesn't just pop off, you have to tinker with it while copmressing the clip to get it to clear the catch. Maybe a duo piler and screwdriver combo would work better. Once off, replace with anything you feel fit.

I used pliers and a screwdriver, and also this means if you're careful you can re-use the old one.
